    摘要: A cooling system for an internal combustion engine according to the principles of the present disclosure includes an engine block, a compression device, a cooling circuit, a first pump, and a fuel delivery device. The engine block at least partially defines a combustion chamber and a cooling passage. The cooling passage extends through the engine block. The compression device is received in the engine block to partially define the combustion chamber. The compression device is movable within and relative to the engine block. The cooling circuit is in fluid communication with the cooling passage. The first pump is in fluid communication with the cooling circuit and is configured to circulate a fuel through the cooling circuit and the cooling passage. The fuel delivery device is in fluid communication with the cooling circuit and is configured to deliver the fuel to the combustion chamber.

    摘要: An internally cooled internal combustion piston engine and method of operating a piston engine is provided, with the combination of liquid water injection, higher compression ratios than conventional engines, and leaner air fuel mixtures than conventional engines. The effective compression ratio of the engines herein is greater than 13:1. The engines may employ gasoline or natural gas and use spark ignition, or the engines may employ a diesel-type fuel and use compression ignition. The liquid water injection provides internal cooling, reducing or eliminating the heat rejection to the radiator, reduces engine knock, and reduces NOx emissions. The method of engine operation using internal cooling with liquid water injection, high compression ratio and lean air fuel mixture allow for more complete and efficient combustion and therefore better thermal efficiency as compared to conventional engines.

    摘要: The present invention provides a cooling structure of a cylinder block, the cooling structure being capable of improving a cooling performance of sliding surfaces. A cylinder block 12 includes a plurality of cylinders 20, and pistons 13 are respectively inserted into the cylinders 20 through openings. Each of the pistons 13 performs reciprocating sliding on a sliding surface 12b which defines the cylinder 20. A plurality of cooling depressions 31 are formed on an outer peripheral surface 12a of the cylinder block 12. Each of the cooling depressions 31 extends from a front end surface of the cylinder block 12 on a dividing wall 32 located between the two adjacent cylinders 20 and is formed by reducing the thickness of the dividing wall 32 so as to reduce a thickness t of a portion between the sliding surface 12b and the outer peripheral surface 12a.
