The metal matrix composite (4) is comprised of a matrix comprising a light metal alloy and, incorporated therein, a reinforcing material comprising a metal fiber, wherein the reinforcing material contains Fe and Cr as main components and also contains at least one of Al and Si, the content of Cr being 5 to 30 % and the content of the at least one of Al and Si being 3 to 10 %, and the metal fiber has a diameter of ζ 20 νm to ζ100 νm. The reinforcing material is formed by the molten metal extraction method and has irregularities on its circumferential surface. The solution treatment for the metal matrix composite (4) is carried out in a temperature range of 470 °C to 500 °C for suppressing the formation of an intermetallic compound.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Kurbelwellenlager für ein Kraftfahrzeug, bei welchem eine aus ADI (Austempered Ductile Iron, DIN EN 1564) hergestellte Kurbelwelle 1 ohne Zwischenschaltung weiterer Bauteile an einem aus Aluminium hergestellten Motorblock 2 gelagert ist. Die genannten Materialien haben eine sehr geringe Differenz der Wärmeausdehnungskoeffizienten, so dass das Lager auch bei Temperaturschwankungen zuverlässig arbeitet.

In the piston assembly the sealing arrangement (1.2, 1.3) between the upper section and the skirt is provided by utilizing the difference between the mounting and working temperatures of the upper section (2) and the piston skirt (3). Preferably, the sealing arrangement between the upper section and the skirt is arranged to operate under working pressure and the sealing arrangement comprises several operationally in succession provided counter surfaces, which are arranged with respect to each other so that their mutual distance is reduced at the working temperature of the surfaces, and that a pressure balancing chamber is formed between two successive, tightly arranged counter surface pairs (2a - 3b).
