摘要: An aircraft cabin blower system (100) comprises a transmission (110) configured to receive mechanical power from a gas turbine engine in the form of a first transmission input (114); and an electrical circuit comprising a first electrical machine (116), a second electrical machine (120), and a power management system (122), wherein, when operating in a blower mode, the first electrical machine is configured to receive mechanical power from the gas turbine engine and act as a generator to provide electrical power to the power management system, and the second electrical machine is configured to act as a motor providing mechanical power to the transmission in the form of a second transmission input (118), the second electrical machine being driven by electrical power from the power management system. An output of the transmission is configured to drive a cabin blower compressor (102) when operating in the blower mode, a speed of the output of the transmission being determined by a function of a speed of the first and second transmission inputs.

摘要: There is disclosed an auxiliary rotation device (28) for a gas turbine engine (10). The auxiliary rotation device (28) comprises: an electric machine (30) configured to be coupled to a rotor of the gas turbine engine (10); and a dedicated electrical storage device (32) coupled to the electric machine (30). During a period of powered operation of the gas turbine engine (10) the electric machine (30) is configured to act as a generator so as to charge the dedicated electrical storage device (32). Following the period of powered operation of the gas turbine engine (10) the electric machine (30) is configured to act as a motor by discharging the dedicated electrical storage device (32) so as to cause the rotor to rotate for a period of time to provide even cooling of the rotor around its circumference. There is also disclosed a method of cooling a rotor of a gas turbine engine (10) using an auxiliary rotation device (28).

The output of the compressor is connected, through the fluid circuit, to a turbine component comprising at least one set of turbine blades connected to a rotating shaft that acts as the output of the engine in use. A condenser receives fluid in the circuit that has passed through the turbine component and is arranged to reduce the temperature and pressure of the compressed gas, the outlet of the condenser being connected to the inlet of the compressor.

摘要: An accessory drive system (20) for a gas turbine engine (10) includes a gearbox (30) driving a plurality of accessories (32) including a cabin air compressor (34) to provide cabin air and an engine starter (36) to start the gas turbine engine. An electrical power supply (50) separate from a main electrical power supply of the gas turbine engine (10) is electrically coupled to the accessories (32). A clutch (60) selectively engages an output (13) of the gas turbine engine (10) to mechanically couple the output (13) to the gearbox (30). The clutch (60) operates between an electrical drive state where it disengages from the output (13) and only the electrical power supply (50) provides electrical power to the cabin air compressor (34) and the engine starter (36), and a mechanical drive state where the clutch (60) engages the output (13) and the gearbox (30) drives at least one of the accessories (32).

摘要: An energy generating system for transforming energy of fluid flow into electric energy, the system, at least in operation, comprising: a flow-changing member having a peripheral rim and mounted in a fluid path having a path surface, so as to be at least partially surrounded by said path surface, said flow-changing member being displaceable between a first position, in which at least a portion of the rim is spaced from a corresponding portion of the path surface to a first extent and a second position, in which said portion of the rim is spaced from said portion of the fluid path surface to a second extent greater than said first extent, so that increase of total volumetric flow rate of said fluid above a predetermined threshold to an increased volumetric flow rate is configured to induce displacement of said flow-changing member from said first position toward said second position, thereby causing the volumetric flow rate of said fluid at said spacing to be above said increased volumetric flow rate; and a turbine mounted in fluid communication with said fluid path at a location other than said spacing, whereby said displacement causes the volumetric flow rate of said fluid at said turbine to be below said increased volumetric flow rate.
