An insulation material suitable for use on rocket motor cases and airframe surfaces is provided. The insulation material is formed from a mixture of cork particulate, a plurality of fibers, and a siloxane based binder. The cork particulate, the binder, and the fibers are present in a mass ratio of 10-100 parts binder to 0.1-50 parts fiber to 1-100 parts cork. The insulation material may have a homogeneous or non-homogeneous composition and may be composite in nature.

The prepreg contains at least an impregnating resin matrix and, as a precursor prior to carbonization, either carded and yarn-spun solvent-spun staple cellulosic fibers, solvent-spun cellulosic filaments, or a combination thereof. When patterned and carbonized, the rocket motor ablative material can be lined or otherwise placed into a rocket motor assembly, such as between the solid propellant and case, in the bulk area of the exit nozzle liner, or at susceptible portions of a re-entry vehicle, such as the nose cone.

The present disclosure is directed to a root assembly 30 for a rotor blade 16 of a wind turbine 10 and methods of manufacturing same. The root assembly 30 includes a blade root section 32 having an inner sidewall surface 40 and an outer sidewall surface 42 separated by a radial gap 44, a plurality of root inserts 46 spaced circumferentially within the radial gap 44, and a plurality of spacers 52 configured between one or more of the root inserts 46. Further, each of the root inserts 46 includes at least one bore hole 48 surrounded by a pre-cured or pre-consolidated composite material 50,54. Dargestellt und beschrieben ist unter anderem eine Vorrichtung zur thermochemischen Umwandlung von Holz, mit mindestens einem kontinuierlich arbeitenden Bewegtbettreaktor, wie einem doppelwandigen Schneckenreaktor (11) od. dgl., in dem das über eine Einfüllöffnung (13) in den Schneckenreaktor (11) gelangte Holz unter Luftabschluss erwärmt, getrocknet und pyrolysiert wird, wobei der Schneckenreaktor (11) in Förderrichtung (x) vorne eine Öffnung (15) zur Entfernung des Pyrolysegases und eine Öffnung (14) zur Entfernung der Holzkohle aufweist, wobei der Schneckenreaktor mit (11) einem Ofen (18) zur im Wesentlichen vollständigen Verbrennung des Pyrolysegases verbunden ist, wobei der Ofen (18) mit einem Abgas-Luft-Wärmetauscher (20) versehen ist und wobei dem Abgas-Luft-Wärmetauscher (20) eine Einrichtung (T) zur Erzeugung von elektrischem Strom nachgeordnet ist.
