摘要: In a C band and an L band, a multi-core fiber 1 includes: nine or more core elements 10 and 20 respectively including cores 11 and 21 that propagate light of at least up to a second-order LP mode, inner cladding layers 12 and 22, and trench layers 13 and 23; and an outer cladding 30. The effective refractive indices of light propagating through the cores 11 and 21 adjacent to each other are different from each other such that a magnitude of crosstalk of light of a highest-order LP mode commonly propagating through the cores 11 and 21 adjacent to each other between the cores 11 and 21 adjacent to each other becomes a peak at a bending diameter smaller than a diameter of 100 mm, and the core has a higher refractive index in a center portion than in an outer circumferential portion such that a differential mode group delay of the cores 11 and 12 is 700 picoseconds/km or less.

摘要: An optical fiber with ultra-low attenuation and bend insensitivity includes a core layer and cladding layers. The cladding layers have an inner cladding layer surrounding the core layer, a trench cladding layer surrounding the inner cladding layer, an auxiliary outer cladding layer surrounding the trench cladding layer, and an outer cladding layer surrounding the auxiliary outer cladding layer. The core layer has a radius of 3.0-3.9 µm, and a relative refractive index difference of -0.04% to 0.12%. The inner cladding layer has a radius of 8-14µm, and a relative refractive index difference of about -0.35% to -0.10%. The trench cladding layer has a radius of about 14-20µm, and a relative refractive index difference of about -0.6% to -0.2%. The auxiliary outer cladding layer has a radius of about 35-50µm, and a relative refractive index difference of about -0.4% to -0.15%. The outer cladding layer is a pure silicon-dioxide glass layer.

摘要: The present invention relates to a dispersion-shifted optical fiber comprising a structure for reducing optical loss and restraining nonlinear phenomena from occurring. In order to restrain the nonlinear phenomena from occurring, this dispersion-shifted optical fiber has an effective area of 70 µm 2 or more with respect to light whose center wavelength falls within the range of 1500 to 1600 nm, and the peak position where optical power of the light in a fundamental mode is maximized is radially shifted from a center of a core region by a predetermined distance. Also, in this dispersion-shifted optical fiber, optical power at a position radially separated from the peak position by a distance which is five times the center wavelength of the light becomes 1/100 or less of the optical power at the peak position. As a consequence of this structure, bending loss can effectively be reduced.
