Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Anlage zum Herstellen von Schuhen mit einer Spitzenzwickmaschine (1), einer Fersen- und Seitenzwickmaschine (2), ggf. eine Übergabeeinrichtung (3) für einen Leisten (13) mit aufgezogenem spitzengezwicktem Schaft von der Spitzenzwickmaschine an die Fersen- und Seitenzwickmaschine und ggf. mit weiteren vor- oder nachgeschalteten Einrichtungen, wobei die Spitzenzwickmaschine, die Fersen- und Seitenzwickmaschine, die Übergabeeinrichtung und ggf. die weiteren Einrichtungen über eine zentrale Steuereinrichtung (4) miteinander in Verbindung stehen. Zur Schaffung einer bedienerfreundlichen Anlage, die in einfacher Weise an sich ändernde Schuhtypen angepaßt werden kann und die einfach und schnell überwacht und gewartet werden kann, ist erfindungsgemäß vorgesehen, daß die Steuereinrichtung eine programmierbare Rechnereinheit mit Anzeigegerät, vorzugsweise einen sogenannte Personal Computer mit Bildschirm, zur Eingabe und Anzeige von Steuergrößen aufweist.

A plurality of hydraulic actuators are connected between a supply line (14) and a tank return line (18). A separate desired velocity is requested for each hydraulic actuator. In response to a respective metering mode and the desired velocity for each hydraulic actuator, the flow requirements that each hydraulic actuator has from the supply and return lines are derived. A determination is made as to what fractions of the required flows can be provided by the flow levels that are available from the supply and return lines. Those fractions are used to convert the desired velocity for the given hydraulic actuator into a velocity command which indicates the velocity of the given hydraulic actuator that can be achieved with the available fluid flows. The respective velocity command is used to control the flow of fluid to each hydraulic actuator.

The speed of rotation of a side wall roughing tool (250) can be varied in accordance with the speed of relative movement between the tool (250) and side wall portions of the shoe being roughed (the traverse speed of the tool). To this end, a flow control arrangement (F) is provided including a plurality of flow control valves (CV1, CV2), the arrangement being such that, with the rate of flow through each such valve set, the operator can select one or other to be switched into the hydraulic circuit by which a hydraulic motor (232) is driven, said motor effecting rotation of the tool. The selection of one or other flow control valve (CV1, CV2) is made by the operator during the digitising of the path of the tool relative to the shoe and such information is stored together with the programmed instruction, in the form of digitised coordinate axis values, for said path.
