    摘要: A single mode fiber pulsed oscillator includes an all normal dispersion ring cavity provided with a mode-locking fiber loop component and a giant chirp generating fiber component. The mode-locking fiber loop component is configured with a hybrid of NOLM and NALM configurations which is operative to induce a first phase acquisition of a spectrally narrow pulse due to SPM. The giant chirp generating fiber loop component is configured to induce the additional phase acquisition to the pulse broadened in the mode-locking fiber component so as to generate a pulse with a giant chirp. The fiber loop components each include a fiber amplifier and a coil of fiber. The amplifiers each are configured with an active fiber provided with a core which supports multiple transverse mode in a range of wavelength except for the desired wavelength at which the core is configured to support a single fundamental mode.

    摘要: An apparatus can be provided which can include a laser arrangement which can be configured to provide a laser radiation, and can include an optical cavity. The optical cavity can include a dispersive optical first arrangement which can be configured to receive and disperse at least one first electro-magnetic radiation so as to provide at least one second electro-magnetic radiation. Such cavity can also include an active optical modulator second arrangement which can be configured to receive and modulate the at least one second radiation so as to provide at least one third electro-magnetic radiation. The optical cavity can further include a dispersive optical third arrangement which can be configured to receive and disperse at least one third electro-magnetic radiation so as to provide at least one fourth electro-magnetic radiation. For example, actions by the first, second and third arrangements can cause a spectral filtering of the fourth electro-magnetic radiation(s) relative to the first electro-magnetic radiation(s). The laser radiation can be associated with the fourth radiation(s), and a wavelength of the laser radiation can be controlled by the spectral filtering caused by the actions by the first, second and third arrangements.

    摘要: A system comprising: a) a light source, wherein said source comprises a quasi-cw laser diode (31); b) a lithium niobate modulator (32) arranged to receive output of said light source and outputting pulses which are less than or equal to approximately 10 ns at a repetition rate in a range of from 1 kHz to less than 10 MHz, and said modulator (32) is disposed at an output of said cw laser diode (31); c) an amplifier (33) arranged to amplify pulses output by said modulator (32); and d) a fiber (34) with positive, i.e. normal, group-velocity dispersion (GVD) and self phase modulation receiving an output of said amplifier (33). The quasi cw laser diode (31) is gated so that it does not emit for significantly longer times than the pulse duration. The output of the positive GVD fiber may be compressed to produce fs pulses with variable repetition rate.
