Systems, methods and devices for utilizing an energy chassis device designed to sense, collect, store and distribute energy from where it is available using devices that harvest or convert energy to locations requiring energy such as but not limited to HVAC (heating, ventilation and cooling) systems. The systems, methods and devices can also be used with a next generation geothermal heat exchanger that achieves higher energy harvesting efficiency and provides greater functionality than current geothermal exchangers.

A plant for exploiting geothermal energy by circulating water or another fluid through a non-porous geological formation at a substantial depth below the earth surface, comprising multiple heat absorbing/production holes penetrating the said formation, with a total length of several kilometers and spaced more than 50 m apart. The production holes are connected to the surface by one single combined supply and return hole in which upward and downward flow is separated by a pipe comprising an insulating material and a seal. At the given positions of the common supply and return hole manifold zone designs connect the hole to the multiple production holes. The supply and return holes and production holes are closed circuits for transport of a fluid such as water through the said formation. A method for designing and establishing the plant is also disclosed.

A hybrid geothermal power system is discussed. The system includes a geothermal system including power plant (101) and pumping station (102) and a nuclear plant (103). Pumping station (102) is used to inject fluid from reservoir (104) through an injection well (105) into the bedrock (106) (also referred to as the hot dry rock HDR zone) and extracted via a secondary bore (extraction well) usually coupled to the power plant (101). In the present example however the injection well is linked to the extraction well (107). As fluid is injected into the bedrock a drop in temperature occurs due to heat transfer to the fluid. Nuclear plant (103) is utilized to combat this drop, the plant (103) has the fissionable components (1091, 1092, 1093) of the reactor positioned within bores (1081, 1082, 1083) within the HDR zone.

The invention is concerned with an arrangement for preventing weather-induced formation of ice to a top surface (76) of an outdoor surface layer (74), comprising a heat conduit received in the surface layer (74). The heat conduit comprises a conduit (10, 12) for a circulating fluid adapted to emit heat to the surface layer (74) from a collector line (20, 22) adapted to receive heat from a volume (40) of water.

The invention provides systems and methods for cooling and/or heating a structure. Generally, a system for heating or cooling a structure can include at least one thermosiphon in thermal communication with a thermal storage material such as a volume of earth. The thermosiphon can be partially filled with a heat transfer fluid and a heat exchanger operatively connected to the thermosiphon which is in thermal communication with the structure. Thermal energy can be transferred between the thermal storage material and the structure in either a passive or assisted mode, depending on whether the system is charging or in use.

A heat is taken from a photovoltaic panel (1) using air that flows through the photovoltaic panel (1) unit with an air cooler (2). The unit has an air intake opening (3) and an outtake vent (4) and the air flow is enforced by a natural draft of a chimney (5), to which the photovoltaic panel (1) unit is connected to. At least a part of the chimney (5) is exposed to solar radiation. Outtake vents (4) of several photovoltaic panel (1) units can lead to one chimney (5), preferably through thermal collectors (6) and piping. The air in the chimney is warmed up by solar radiation, the air ascends towards the chimney (5) mouth and the chimney (5) natural draft created in this way enforces air flow within the photovoltaic panel (1) unit. Even the air cooler (2) of the sucked air can form part of the system—preferably in the form of a ground-coupled heat exchanger (9). The chimney (5) can be equipped with heat-absorbing surface and it can also have a supporting wind device transforming wind energy into a natural draft within the chimney (5).
