Abstract:
The present invention relates to contact lens care product comprising dexpanthenol. The invention similarly relates to the usage of a contact lens care compositions of this kind for cleaning and optionally disinfecting contact lenses.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a lens care kit for disinfecting and cleaning contact lenses. The lens care kit of the invention allows customers to visually identify when their lenses are disinfected, clean, and ready to wear. The invention is relied on color change to indicate the readiness of disinfection and cleaning of contact lenses.
Abstract:
An buffered aqueous contact lens disinfecting solution having much lower concentration of disinfecting agents, and less irritating to the eye. The solutions have a tonicity of 200 to 450 mOsm/kg, a pH of between 6 and 8, and a concentration of chloride ions below 1500 ppm. Despite having less than 1 ppm of antimicrobial, the solutions are effective against C. albicans within 15 minutes of contact.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to contact lens care product comprising dexpanthenol and D-sorbit. The invention similarly relates to the usage of a contact lens care compositions of this kind for cleaning and optionally disinfecting contact lenses.
Abstract:
A multi-purpose contact lens care solution having high activity against fungi and certain bacteria comprising, in liquid aqueous medium, an alkylamine having the following Formula (I) , R1 R2 I R3 where R1 is a C13-17 alkylamine, and R2 and R3 are each independently H or -CH3, and a non-ionic surfactant. The solution may optionally also include additional antimicrobial components, a buffer component, a viscosity inducing component, a surfactant, taurine, propylene glycol and/or a tonicity component. This solution additionally prevents losses in ocular tissue membrane integrity during contact lens wear.
Abstract:
Aqueous ophthalmic compositions containing water-soluble borate-polyol complexes are useful in aqueous ophthalmic compositions containing polyvinyl alcohol. These compositions provide the benefits of a borate buffering system, such as enhanced antimicrobial activity, without the problems associated with the use of borate and pol, such as formation of borate-polyvinyl alcohol complexes which are water-insoluble.
Abstract:
Compositions effective as disinfecting solutions for ophthalmic devices such as contact lenses are provided. The compositions include a microbicide, preferably polyhexamethylene biguanide or alexidine, and a water soluble salt of a bis-aminopolyol, preferably 1,3-bis(tris[hydroxymethyl]methylamino)propane, as a buffering agent.
Abstract:
PEO-containing quaternary ammonium compounds have good broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. These compounds are useful in pharmaceutical compositions as preservatives and in contact lens care compositions as preservatives and/or disinfectants.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a biguanide-containing disinfecting solution containing tyloxapol in combination with a poloxamine for stabilizing the biguanide, which is especially useful for contact-lens solutions that provide enhanced disinfecting and enhanced cleaning efficacy. The method of the present invention comprises cleaning and disinfecting a contact lens with the above-described solution.
Abstract:
The use of low molecular weight amino alcohols in ophthalmic compositions is described. These compounds have been found to enhance the efficacy of anti-microbial preservatives. Particularly preferred amino alcohols are 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), 2-dimethylamino-2-methyl-1-propanediol (DMAMP), 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol (AEPD), 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (AMPD), and 2-amino-1-butanol (AB). The ophthalmic compositions further optionally comprise a borate/polyol buffer system and an alkylamine.
