The apparatus and methods generally rely on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, where information is stored to and collected from RFID tags that are located proximate to keys. The apparatus and methods provided for in this invention improve efficiency and accuracy in the key supply chain.

Die bekannten Schlüsselschalter besitzen aber keine Sicherungsmittel, um eine Überdrehung des Schlüssels zu verhindern. In extremen Fällen führt dies - vor allem bei einem zu grossen Kraftaufwand - zu einem Abbrechen des Schlüsselbartes, was dann meistens ein mühsames und kostspieliges Auswechseln des ganzen Schalters zu Folge hat. Erfindungsgemäss wird eine unerwünschte Überdrehung des Schlüssels durch am Drehknopf (6) und an der Frontplatte (2) oder am Schaltergehäuse angeordnete, aneinander anschlagbare Rippen (8, 9) verhindert. Die Erfindung zeichnet sich also im wesentlichen dadurch aus, dass im ein- oder aufgesteckten Zustand des Drehknopfes (6), dieser mit einer ortsfesten Anschlagrippe (8) in Eingriff steht und dadurch die Drehbewegung des Schlüssels (7) auf einen im voraus festgelegten Drehbereich einschränkt.
