A novel wallboard composition is disclosed comprising a unique combination of synthetic binders selected for their ability to establish a strengthened permanent bond in the final dry state in combination with an expanded mineral such as Perlite which largely reduces the amount of gypsum over current gypsum wallboard formulations, thus reducing the weight while maintaining the strength of the wallboard structure. In a preferred embodiment, the lightweight, strengthened wallboard of the present invention also comprises a covering veneer that is applied to the top ply of the face paper to provide increased strength, moisture resistance, and fire retardency, and the back paper top ply is treated to provide increased flexural strength. Additionally, this invention relates to the unique manufacturing process to produce the wallboard composition of the present invention in order to create a lightweight, strengthened, moisture resistant, and fire retardant wallboard used to cover walls and ceilings in construction applications. Still further, this invention relates to the apparatus for manufacturing the wallboard composition of the present invention, including a method and apparatus for economically converting a standard gypsum wallboard manufacturing facility into a facility for manufacturing wallboard of the present invention.

This invention relates to a machine for manufacturing filled up molded products consisting generally of a filling unit adapted to introduce a non-solid material from a filling up nozzle into an elastic filled up mold having an opened bag-shaped filled up portion, a solidification unit adapted to harden this material in the elastic filled up mold, and a withdrawal unit adapted to pull out the hardened packed material from the filled up portion of the elastic filled up mold, wherein the solidification unit is provided in its packed material semihardening position with a suction nozzle for sucking out the non-solid packed material from the interior of the elastic filled up mold. According to the present invention, a filled up mold consisting of an elastic filled up mold having an opened bag-shaped filled up portion is used, so that a filled up molded product with no split lines can be manufactured.

This invention relates in general to the formation of thick films having a biaxial molecular orientation. Such films are prepared in accordance with the present invention from rod-like extended chain aromatic-heterocyclic ordered polymers. Such films have high tensile strength, modulus, and environmental resistance characteristics. A preferred ordered polymer for use in the present invention is poly(para-phenylenebenzo bisthiazole), (PBT), a compound having structure (I). The present invention is also directed to methods and apparatus suitable for producing biaxially oriented films, coatings, and like materials from ordered polymers, preferably PBT.

An apparatus for forming an object by an additive process, commonly referred to as 3-D printing, is provided. The apparatus includes a filament comprising a series of irregularities along the length of the filament, a nozzle depositing a layer of melted material onto a surface and a feeder feeding the filament to the nozzle. A heating element melts the filament and a controller controls the position of the nozzle in a plane to control the configuration of the layer of melted material deposited by the nozzle. Additionally, a method for forming polymer filament used in 3-D printing devices is also provided. The method includes the steps of melting a polymer, selecting an extrusion characteristic calculated to induce a polymer flow instability and extruding the melted polymer using the selected extrusion characteristic to produce an extrusion having distortions created by the polymer flow instability.

The present invention is directed toward a system to vary dimensions of a template in order to attenuate if not prevent distortions in an underlying pattern formed by the template. To that end, the system features a compression device that includes a pair of spaced-apart contact members to compress a perimeter surface of the template between the pair of spaced-apart contact members. The compression device includes first and second bodies, each has a contact member and an actuator arm. One of the actuator arms is coupled to the first body to reciprocate about an axis in response to variations of a volume of a bladder disposed adjacent to the actuator arm. In this manner, the distance between the two contact members may be varied.
