The invention relates to a pipe insulation sleeve made of mineral wool bound by a thermosetting binder and comprising an outer insulating layer (1) consisting of a slab of mineral wool hardened all through, said outer layer (1) featuring a number of radial slits (2) taken out from its inwards-turned surface, which slits (2) run axially and are essentially closed and originally of V-shaped form, and an inner layer (3) of mineral wool bonded to said outer layer by a thermosetting binder and of such thickness and density that it is in itself rigid and at the same time imparts rigidity to said outer layer. A method and arrangement for production of the pipe insulation sleeve is also described.

A method for continously manufacturing a thin wall tube of an extrudable material, preferably a polyolefine, having a wrapper of a metal foil. A thin wall extrudate is discharged from an extruder and a web of a metal foil having an adhesive layer thereon is fed against the outside of the tube and brought to fully cover the envelope surface of the tube with said layer facing the tube. Thereafter the tube is fed into an opening in a housing forming a pressure and temperature zone. The lamination pressure for laminating the metal foil to the tube is made selfadjusting by adapting the temperature and/or the efficient opening diameter of said opening to the inherent deformation resistance of the tube.

The invention is in an improved packaging tube (110) and the packages, containing product, made therefrom. The packaging is suitable for holding products containing substantial fractions of cyano-acrylate-type components. The invention depends on the use of special multiple layer sheet material (414) for the tube sidewall and a covering strip (116) over the inside surface of the tube longtitudinal sideseam (112). A layer of high density polyethylene (418) is positioned on the inside surface of the tube, such that it is the surface in direct contact with the product. A primer layer (420) having a Lewis base-type component, such as polyethylene imine, is between the surface of the high density polyethylene layer (418) which is disposed away from the product and subsequent layers (e.g. 422) which may be susceptible to interaction with the product. Preferred embodiments of the package use sheet materials having additional layers to provide barrier, heat sealability, and abuse resistance properties, and the necessary adhesive materials to hold the various layers of the structure together with good adhesion. Additional layers are contemplated. The covering stip (116) is high density polyethylene, and it covers and protects the edge of the sheet material on the inside of the package at the tube longitudinal sideseam (112).

Um ein Verfahren anzugeben, mit dem Stahlrohre, die bereits mit einer Korro sionsschutzbeschichtung versehen sind, mit einer aussen liegenden möglichst leichten mechanischen Schutzschicht ummantelt werden können, wobei diese eine Sicherung des Korrosionsschutzes bei mechanischen Einwirkungen, ins besondere durch scharfkantige Felsstücke bei der Rohrver legung oder durch starke Verformung des Rohres, gewähr leisten soll, wird vorgeschlagen, dass als Schutzschicht auf das Rohr ein hochelastischer vernetzter Kunststoff oder Kautschuk von mindestens 3 mm Schichtdicke aufgebracht wird.

A surface layer, for instance a metal foil containing strip or a print, is applied onto a hollow profile (12) which is such that it is deformable by a force acting onto the profile and which returns to a shape substantially corresponding to the original shape as soon as the force is removed. The profile is led with a section thereof which is non-planar in the crosswise direction relative the tube extension against a device (15, 24) for applying a suitable layer. This device is arranged for pressing the non-planar section to a substantially planar shape when the profile is passing over the device. The surface layer (22, 23: 30, 31) is applied between the said device and the outside of the section of the profile which has been pressed into a substantially planar shape. Finally, the profile section is brought to return to a shape at least substantially corresponding to the original shape of the profile.

A laminated pipe comprising a layer of siloxane-crosslinked polyolefin, a layer of a saponified product of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and a layer of siloxane-crosslinked polyolefin or polybutene is disclosed. This pipe is suitable for hot water circulation because of its superior durability and oxygen barrier properties. Heat exchangers, pumps, and other metal units connected to this pipe are protected from corrosion due to dissolved oxygen in hot water.
