The present invention relates to a novel method for producing an alcoholic beverage based on tequila and vodka, comprising the following steps: (a) purifying (5, 6) the primary alcohol compounds of vodka (1) and tequila (2); (b) mixing (7, 8) the purified alcohol compounds of vodka (1) and tequila (2) with their corresponding aromatic components of hop (3) and citruses (4), and macerating the obtained mixtures at room temperature; (c) distilling (9, 10) the macerated mixtures of vodka (1) and tequila (2) obtained in the previous step; and (d) mixing (11) the distillates of vodka (1) and tequila (2) with one another, thereby obtaining the final beverage product. The main advantage of the invention is that the beverage obtained as a final product has a highly integrated aromatic composition, with a well-rounded flavor on the palate and well-balanced acidity and bitterness, and it is fairly but not overly sweet.

Accordingly, aldehydes and inorganic salts can be removed from alcoholic liquors, such as fermented liquor and distilled liquor, while realizing strong retention of peculiar fragrance and retention of manneristic flavor.

The inventive still comprises a chamber (1) with a copper wall (10), which is intended to receive an alcoholic liquid, the capacity of the aforementioned chamber (1) representing a certain volume. The liquid which occupies the volume at the start of the distillation and the chamber wall (10) define, by mutual contact, a first interface with an area to volume ratio that is at most equal to 27 square centimetres per litre. According to the invention, the still also comprises one or more copper plates (2) which are disposed inside the chamber (1) and which are submerged in the alcoholic liquid. When the volume is occupied by a liquid, said liquid together with the copper plates define a second interface with a non-zero area and the ratio of the total area of the interfaces to the volume is at least equal to 30 square centimetres per litre.

This invention relates to a process for the production of an alcoholic beverage which process comprises a first alcohol distillation step (16) wherein a first liquid having a first alcohol content is distilled to produce a first alcohol containing vapour having a second elevated alcohol content higher than that of said first liquid, which first vapour is condensed to a second liquid having a second, elevated, alcohol content, and a second alcohol distillation step (43-45) wherein a batch of said second liquid is distilled to produce a second alcohol containing vapour which is condensed to a third liquid having a third, further elevated, alcohol content. The first distillation step is carried out in a continuous distillation column, the first alcohol containing vapour is compressed (30), and, if necessary, de-superheated (31), so as to produce a saturated vapour, and at least part of the compressed saturated alcohol containing vapour passed through a heat exchanger (39-41).
