    Abstract: The invention relates to a tunable resonator filter. In each resonator cavity of the filter there is a movable dielectric tuning element (728; 748) to adjust the resonator’s natural frequency. The tuning elements are advantageously arranged to be moved by a common control implemented by a rod (708) joining them together, to shift the filter’s band through equal displacements of the natural frequencies of the resonators. When the tuning element is moved horizontally sidewards from the resonator (710; 720; 730; 740; 750; 760) axis, the electrical length and natural frequency of the resonator change. In that case, when sub-bands are used it is not necessary to tune the filters separately for each sub-band in the stage of manufacture, as the sub-band can be chosen when the filter is put into use. The tuning elements can be movable also in each resonator separately, to implement the basic tuning in connection with the manufacture of the filter. The basic tuning can be automated, in other words it can be made without inconvenient handwork.

    Abstract: An integrated electrical filter includes resistors (R10-12) and capacitors (C10-12). The capacitors are controllable in value by means of a control circuit (100-109) and are formed by a binary weighted array of capacitor elements which are selectively connectable in parallel. A controlled oscillator (103 Figure 1) or a controlled phase shifting network (113 Figure 2) includes a capacitor of the same form as the filter capacitors. The oscillator (103) or phase shifter (113) form part of a phase locked loop (101, 104, 105, 107) which produces a digital code as its control signal at the output of an up/down counter (107). This digital code is latched in a register (109) to provide a control signal for the filter capacitors and is used directly to control the capacitor(s) in the controlled oscillator or phase shifter.

    Abstract: An Ethernet MAC sublayer is provided for supporting Ethernet MAC circuits in an Ethernet Network. In accordance with one embodiment, an Ethernet MAC sublayer is provided for processing and setting up circuits. The MAC sublayer provides support for higher level signaling (112, 122, 132) and routing (114, 124, 134) applications to implement Ethernet MAC circuit functionality. The MAC sublayer provides interrupts for WAN learning and circuit setup. The MAC sublayer also provides address table entry extension (2102, 2202, 2302) to allow for usage of multiple links between nodes (2100, 2200, 2300). The routing application is used to manage routing information, maintain a MAC to port mapping database, and manage port resources. The signaling application is used to set up and manage circuits. In accordance to various embodiments, circuits of various types and properties can be managed in the Ethernet Network.

    Abstract: An integrated electrical filter includes resistors (R10-12) and capacitors (C10-12).     Abstract: A continuous time electrical filter fabricated as an integrated circuit includes capacitors (CF,CN) and resistors (R1,R2). Since capacitors and resistors are difficult to integrate with accurately defined values a trimming circuit is provided which operates switches (S1-SN) to select appropriate ones of the capacitors (CN) to accurately define the cut-off frequency of the filter. The trimming circuit comprises a capacitor (TC2) which is charged through a resistor TR1 during a first period and which is discharged in incremental steps by capacitor (TC1). The number of incremental steps is counted by a counter (11) and transferred to a register (13). The outputs (S1-SN) of the register (13) control the switches (S1-SN). Instead of adjusting the value of the capacitors in the filter the values of the resistors may be adjusted. If this is done a convenient procedure is to short out selected portions of the resistors. More than one capacitor or resistor may be adjusted using a single counter and register. The trimming circuit also includes a switch (TS11) which connects the parasitic capacitance (CP1, CP2) of the capacitor (TC1) and an underlying conductive layer (22) and of a dummy resistor and the underlying layer (22) in parallel with the capacitor (TC1). The filter circuit is arranged so that the parasitic capacitance between the resistor (R1) and an underlying conductive layer and that between the capacitors (CF, CN) and the underlying conductive layer are connected in parallel with the fixed capacitor CF.
