The present invention provides a mobile terminal, including: a fixed network access control module for connecting the terminal with an analog user line and notifying the central processor that the mobile terminal is connected with the fixed telephone network in the situation where the analog user line is connected to the analog user line interface; a dual-tone multi-frequency processing module for identifying a selecting signal from analog user line and sending it to the central processor; a call processing module for extracting a voice signal on the analog user line, sending it to an audio output device of mobile terminal for playing, and sending a voice signal from user to the analog user line; a mobile communication module for achieving communication between the mobile terminal and the exterior based on a wireless network; and the central processor for processing the signaling from dual-tone multi-frequency processing module and sending the signaling to be transmitted via network to the dual-tone multi-frequency processing module. The present invention enables the mobile terminal to communicate in the manner of wired communication.

If a signal indicating that connection with the cradle has been detected is inputted from the connection detection unit (109), the relay processing control unit (110) outputs a control signal to a relay processing unit (112), a switch (111), and a switch (113) so as to execute a relay process on the signal transferred from the cradle and transmit the obtained signal to the cradle.

A controller reads a voltage value and based on the theoretical model of a telephone line network, and the expected current/voltage characteristic, as dictated by the appropriate DC mask. The controller sets the line current (via an output voltage) to an optimum value and causes the line voltage to adjust so as to comply with the DC mask and/or minimize power dissipation in the circuit.

A cellular telephone (10) is interconnected to a control unit via a cable (46, 76). The cable (46, 76) contains both appropriate interdisciplinary connections (31-40) for attachment to the telephone at one end (22, 75, 90) and to the control unit at the other end (48) via a universal connector (45). At least one contact (50, 83) of the universal connector (45) is capable of producing a signal coded to identify the type of cellular telephone (10) attached to the connector at the other end (48). A decoder (66, 86) at the control unit identifies the type of phone as by table look-up and establishes appropriate interfacing operational functions (31-40) at its universal connector (45, 75) to properly operate with the telephone (10). Accordingly the control unit can function with any of a wide variety of cellular telephones having differently configured cable connections and cable connector disciplines (figures 2A-2F) of contact assignments.
