摘要: A surface modification method for modifying a surface of, in particular, a polymer material having a ketone group, a bonding method, a surface modified material, and a joined product are provided. The surface modification method is for modifying a surface 10a of a polymer material 10 having a ketone group and includes a contact step and a grafting step. At the contact step, an organic compound 12 having an epoxy group and an unsaturated bond-containing group are brought into contact with the polymer material 10. At the grafting step, light energy 16 is applied to the polymer material 10 being in contact with the organic material 12 to radicalize the ketone group in the polymer material 10, and the radicalized ketone group in the polymer material 10 is reacted with the unsaturated bond-containing group in the organic compound 12 to graft an organic compound chain 20c having the epoxy group based on the organic compound 12 onto a position 10b where the ketone group in the polymer material 10 existed.

摘要: Provided are polymer compositions made by a process comprising: (a) providing a first reactive composition containing: (i) a polymerization initiator that is capable, upon a first activation, of forming two or more free radical groups, at least one of which is further activatable by subsequent activation; (ii) one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds; and (iii) a crosslinker; (b) subjecting the first reactive composition to a first activation step such that the first reactive composition polymerizes therein to form a crosslinked substrate network containing a covalently bound activatable free radical initiator, (c) combining the crosslinked substrate network with a second reactive composition containing one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds; and (d) activating the covalently bound activatable free radical initiator of the crosslinked substrate network such that the second reactive composition polymerizes therein with the crosslinked substrate network to form a grafted polymeric network and a byproduct polymer. Also provided are precursors to the polymer compositions, processes for preparation of the polymer compositions, and methods of using the polymer compositions, for instance in medical devices.
