A method for producing a fiber mat includes a step of dispersing fine fibers in a dispersion medium (41) and a step of matting the dispersed fine fibers. The fine fibers have a fiber length smaller than a pore diameter of the papermaking wire (20). The matting step includes a step of papermaking the dispersed fine fibers on a microporous sheet (10) having a pore diameter smaller than that of the papermaking wire (20) and disposed on the papermaking wire (20) .

The present invention provides a toner cleaning sheet that is high in heat resistance, able to maintain required tensile strength even when temperature overshoot occurs in heating rollers for toner cleaning, high in cleaning performance, and low in price to ensure stable supply. The toner cleaning sheet according to the present invention comprises at least one type of fiber selected from among different thermoplastic fibers formed of thermoplastic resin with a melting point of 265°C or more and at least one type of fiber selected from among different cellulose fibers, wherein at least part of the aforementioned thermoplastic fiber is fusion-bonded to neighboring thermoplastic fiber filaments. The toner cleaning sheet according to the present invention can be produced by a production method designed for a toner cleaning sheet that comprises at least one type of fiber selected from among different thermoplastic fibers formed of thermoplastic resin with a melting point of 265°C or more and at least one type of fiber selected from among different cellulose fibers, the production method comprising a bonding step in which at least part of the aforementioned thermoplastic fiber is fusion-bonded to neighboring thermoplastic fiber filaments.

A self-adhesive fiber mat may include glass and/or polymer fibers and bi-component fibers intermixed therewith. The bi-component fibers may include a core material and an outer material surrounding the core material. The outer material may have a low melting point temperature relative to the core material that may soften when exposed to heat enabling the bi-component fiber to bond with fibers and/or surfaces adjacent to the bi-component fibers. Alternatively, the self-adhesive fiber mat may use a heat sensitive resin (bonding resin) as a binder instead of, or in addition to, the bi-component fibers, The heat sensitive resin may bind the fibers together and may also bond the self-adhesive fiber mat with an adjacent film or sheet. Bonding between the film or sheet and the self-adhesive fiber mat may occur as a result of the bi-component fibers or heat sensitive resin being exposed to heat and/or pressure.

Provided are a polyphenylene sulfide fiber which is amorphous, low in degree of thermal shrinkage, and suitable as a binder for papermaking, and a method for producing the same, as well as a wet-laid nonwoven fabric containing the polyphenylene sulfide fiber and a method for producing a highly insulating wet-laid nonwoven fabric. A polyphenylene sulfide fiber wherein the amount of heat of crystallization measured by DSC is 10 J/g or more and the degree of shrinkage on dry heating of 150°C×30 minutes is 20% or less, and a method for producing a densified wet-laid nonwoven fabric wherein a wet-laid nonwoven fabric that contains 60 to 100% by mass of a polyphenylene sulfide fiber having an amount of heat of crystallization of 10 J/g or more wherein the amount of heat of crystallization of the polyphenylene sulfide fiber before heating-pressurizing treatments is 5 J/g or more is subjected to heating-pressurizing treatment at a temperature that is not lower than the glass transition temperature and not higher than the melting point of the polyphenylene sulfide fiber.

A heat-resistant fiber paper composed mainly of a short fiber of a heat-resistant organic, high-molecular-weight polymer and a fibrid of a heat-resistant organic, high-molecular-weight polymer, wherein the content of the short fiber in the total weight of the paper is 40 to 97 % by weight, the content of the fibrid in the total weight of the paper is 3 to 60 % by weight, and the fibrid is partially softened and/or melted to allow the fibrid to act as a binder. This paper possesses excellent heat resistance, thermal dimensional stability, interlaminar peel strength, electrical insulating properties under high humidity conditions and other properties. In addition, it has good resin impregnation despite high bulk density and is particularly suitable as a substrate for an electrical insulating material and a substrate for a laminate for an electric circuit.
