    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the delay of an engine starting completion and to warm up a catalyst device in an early state in a cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine starting by a partial cylinder operation. SOLUTION: This fuel cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine starts the engine by the partial cylinder operation injecting the fuel only to partial cylinders (step 101) and starts to delay the ignition timing when a combustion stability related value reaches a range capable of delaying the ignition timing. Even if the combustion stability related value reaches the range, the ignition timing is prevented from delaying during the partial cylinder operation till shifting to the full cylinder operation (steps 103-107).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply required minimum fuel at the time of resuming supply so as to improve fuel consumption by stopping the operation of predetermined cylinders at the time of decelerating into a first travel state, and resuming the operation of a part of the operation stopped cylinders at the time of further decelerating into a second travel state. SOLUTION: During the operation of an engine, whether throttle opening is zero or not is judged in an ECU 52 from the output of an opening sensor 6. In the case of affirmative and deceleration being in progress, if under lock-up, lock-up is released, and then whether the engine speed is within an all cylinder fuel supply stop range is judged to perform all cylinder fuel supply stop processing. In the case of negative, whether the engine speed is in a partial cylinder fuel supply area is judged to perform partial cylinder fuel supply processing. During this partial cylinder operation, at the time of further decelerating into a second travel state, the operation of at least a part of the operation stopped cylinders is resumed, and output after resumption is controlled to be required output on the basis of the predetermined target output.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To favourably scavenge the overall inside of a combustion chamber by arranging an additional exhaust valve in the central part on a cylinder head inwall surface as well as arranging an exhaust valve in one side peripheral part on the cylinder head inwall surface. CONSTITUTION:In one side peripheral part on a cylinder head inwall surface 3a, a pair of exhaust valves 9, 10 is arranged. In the other side peripheral part of the cylinder head inwall surface, a pair of intake valves 11, 12 is arranged. Additionally, in the central part of the cylinder head inwall surface 3a, an additional exhaust valve 13 is arranged. Fresh air flows into a main chamber 4 through the exhaust valves 9, 10, 13 and each of the intake valves 11, 12 positioned on the opposite side. In this case, fresh air flows down along a cylinder bore inwall surface 1a below the intake valves 11, 12. Thereafter, fresh air flows upward along the cylinder bore inwall surface 1a below the exhaust valves 9, 10. As the exhaust valve 13 is provided, combusted gas existing in the central part of the main chamber 4 is scavenged by fresh air X flowing into from the intake valves 11, 12. Consequently, the overall inside of the main chamber 4 is favourably scavenged.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To compact a piping connecting to an intercooler and a reflux passage by arranging the reflux passage between two branched discharge pipings of a supercharger. CONSTITUTION:A connecting passage branches in two passages 111a and 111b as it approaches an intercooler 10b. The structure is such that a reflux passage 109 enters between the two divided connecting passages 111a and 111b. At the middle of the two divided intercoolers 106a and 106b, an entrance port 109i of the reflux passage 109 is opened. The reflux passage 109 is arranged so as to be a partition wall of the two connecting passages 111a and 111b at the upstream side of the intercooler 106, and after that, reaches the position above the connecting passages 111a and 111b. Thus, the flow rate from the two divided intercoolers 106a and 106b to the reflux passage 109 can be kept almost uniform.

The exhaust valve 11 is obliquely disposed to approach the inner wall surface 1a of the cylinder bore at the exhaust valve 11 side as the exhaust valve 11 located in the central part among three exhaust valves 9, 10, 11, and the exhaust valves 9, 10 are disposed obliquely to separate from the inner wall surface 1a of the cylinder bore as a pair of the remaining exhaust valves 9, 10 are opened.

The injection port 6 of an auxiliary chamber 5 is arranged between the intake valves 12 and 13, and the injection port 6 is directed to the central area of a main chamber 4. Intake branch passages 31, 32 branched from the respective intake ports 29, 30 are extendedly provided in the vicinity of both sides of the auxiliary chamber 5, and then air heated in the auxiliary chamber 5 is supplied from the intake valve 14 to the main chamber.
