Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defogging method and a defogging apparatus capable of defogging over a wide range and contributing to miniaturization, power saving and cost reduction of a DC high voltage power source.
SOLUTION: DC high voltage is applied to plate-like electrodes 5, 6 with large contact areas with air so as not to cause corona discharge, thereby generating an electric field and generating charged particles in a dark discharge state of causing no corona discharge, and the flow of charged particles flowing toward a defogging object space 13 is produced based on Coulomb force acting on the charged particles to defog the defogging object space 13. The electric field can thereby be enlarged without lowering the voltage like the case of using corona discharge to attain defogging in a wide range while attaining miniaturization, power saving and cost reduction of the DC high voltage power source 10.
