    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a rotary electric machine with a parking lock function, when separately provided with an lock mechanism, results in an increase in the gravitational force of the rotary electric machine and in axial direction dimensions. SOLUTION: A-pole, having a plurality of permanent magnets 9A of the same number as that of magnetic poles 11 arranged in the circumferential direction, is provided to one position in the axial direction of a rotor 5, while B-pole, having a plurality of permanent magnets 9B of the different number from that of the magnetic pole 11, is provided to the other position in the axial direction of a rotor 5. When the rotor 5 is stopped, the permanent magnets at the A-pole magnetically suck the magnetic pole 11 of the stator 6 to move the rotor 5 in the axial direction to a parking lock position where the rotor 5 is non-rotatably restricted.
