    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a particle-dispersed surface coating layer having an excellent surface friction and wear characteristic to a member to be subjected to surface coating by irradiating high-density energy to the surface of said member to heat and melt the surface and projecting and injecting fine hard particles into the molten pool formed in such a manner. CONSTITUTION:The fine hard particles 4 are projected and injected by a thermal spraying method such as plasma spraying of a high particle speed of thermal spraying into the molten pool 3 formed by irradiating the high-density energy 2 such as laser beam, TIG arc, plasma arc or electron beam to the surface of the member 1 to be subjected to surface coating to heat and melt said surface. The member 1 is moved toward an arrow A direction simultaneously with the above-mentioned operation to cool the pool 3, by which the fine hard particles 5b are dispersed uniformly into the material 5a constituting the base structure with good bondability. The particle-dispersed surface coating layer 5 is thus formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a graphitized layer having an excellent wear characteristic on a member surface by coating a mixed powder coating material consisiting of the powder of a graphitized layer forming material and the powder of a base-structure constituting material on the surface then irradiating a high-density energy heating heat flow flux thereto. CONSTITUTION:The mixed powder coating material 2 consisting of the powder of the graphitized layer forming material and the powder of the base-structure constituting material is coated on the surface of the member 1. The material 2 is preferably constituted of pulverous graphite particles 3 coated of the base-structure constituting material and may be further constituted by adding the powder 4 of the base-structure constituting material which is the same as or different from the base-structure constituting material used for the above-mentioned coating to said material. The high-density energy heating heat flow flux 5 such as laser beam, TIG arc, plasma arc or electron beam is irradiated to the above-mentioned mixed powder coating material to melt the base-structure constituting material in the material 2, by which the graphitized layer 6 consisting of the pulverous graphite particles 7 and the base-structure constituting material 8, having the high binding force to the member 1 and having the excellent friction wear characteristic is formed on the member 1 surface.

This can be favorably used to sliding components of an internal combustion engine such as piston ring 4 or cylinder bore 3.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture aux. combustion chamber simply, easily, and uncostly by forming a blocking part which encloses at least part of one end or both of a hole, at the time of precision casting in such a way as consolidated with a coarse work for chamber. CONSTITUTION:A coarse work 1 for chamber made of austenite type heat- resistant steel having eaves-shaped blocking parts 4 at the ends of a hole 3A is prepared through precision casting. Therein casting material 5 within the hole 3A remains approx. perfectly even after sand shakeoff process. Then the portions 6A, 6B as acute angle part of the jet are subjected to re-melting process by means of TIG arc. The remaining blocking parts 4 are removed in the finish process. Thus existence of the casting material 5 within the hole 3A allows formation of a layer turned into alloy while the shape of the hole 3A is kept as it was even under the condition that high-density energy 7 is impressed at the time of re-melting process. This enables manufacturing coarse works 1 for chamber simply. easily, and uncostly.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse hard particles, to finely crystallize hard CrAl7 in the Al matrix, and to improve the wear resistance at the part by arranging the Cr-coated hard particles at the requisite part of an Al alloy member, and impressing high-density energy on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The fine particles of the hard metal carbide, metal nitride, and metal boride such as WC, TiC, NbC, TiN, CrN, TiB, CrB, and TaB coated with Cr are placed on the part of an Al alloy member requiring especially wear resistance, and the high-density energy such as a laser beam and a TIG arc is impressed. The hard fine particles are uniformly dispersed at 5-30% area ratio to the cross section of the Al alloy member, a hard intermetallic compd. CrAl7 is finely dispersed and crystallized at the Al matrix part other than the hard fine particles at a 5-50% area ratio in the structure, and the wear resistance is remarkably improved.
