Abstract:
A rolling bearing which has a satisfactory life at a low cost even under such service conditions that water is incorporated into a lubricant either externally or due to dew condensation, or that vibration has an influence, and is particularly suitable for electrical equipment and accessories of automobile engines, such as alternators. The hydrogen ion index pH of a grease scaled in the interior of the bearing is adjusted to 7 to 13. For attaining similar effects, the pH of the grease is adjusted to 5 to 13 when an organic metal salt or ADTC has been added in a predetermined amount to the grease, when an inorganic compound having an average particle diameter of not more than 2 Ám has been added in a predetermined amount to the grease, or when a diurea compound containing an aromatic amine or a mixture of diurea compounds has been added as a thickening agent to the grease.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective film treating agent capable of forming, by a simple method for attaching it to the surface of a metallic material and then drying, a film having excellent seizing resistance and excellent rust prevention which are equal to or higher than the film formed by a chemical treatment method. SOLUTION: The protective film treating agent is obtained by incorporating an alkali silicate to be represented by the formula: M 2 O.nSiO 2 [wherein n is a number of 2-9; and M is at least one kind of Na, K, Li, and NR 4 (wherein R is an alkyl group)] into water. The incorporation of a lubricating component into this protective film treating agent can impart excellent self-lubrication performance to a film. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
Abstract:
Organic peroxide curable polydiorganosiloxane compositions having improved release from metal molds upon curing are disclosed. In addition to the conventional high molecular weight polydiorganosiloxane gum, reinforcing filler, structure control additives, and curing agent, the improved compositions of this invention contain from 0.05 to 3 parts by weight of a polydiorganosiloxane fluid having methyl groups and carboxyfunctional groups as substituents.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A modified graphite fluoride, obtained by partially decomposing a graphite fluoride by irradiation with electromagnetic waves, having improved lubricity characteristics, and suitable for a solid lubricants. CONSTITUTION: A modified graphite fluoride obtained by decomposing and modifying within 0.01W50wt%, preferably 0.1W10wt%, range graphite fluoride (GF), consisting of (CF) n or/and (C 2 F) n , and having generally 0.01W100μ particle diameter under irradiation with electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves of any wavelengths generally called the electromagnetic waves within about 10 -17 W10 5 m wavelength region, may be used, but preferably the wavelength is within 10 -4 W10 -7 cm range. An organic solvent, e.g. ethanol, or water containing a surfactant is used as a dispersing agent for the GF. An aqueous solution of an alkali, e.g. NaOH, is used for accelerating the decomposition rate of the GF. When the resultant modified GF is used as a lubricant, the moldability of a molding material is improved due to the good dispersibility in oil, etc. and good compatibility with a resin, and a lower specific abrasion ratio than the unmodified GF is exhibited. PCT No. PCT/CA97/00658 Sec. 371 Date Jun. 22, 1999 Sec. 102(e) Date Jun. 22, 1999 PCT Filed Sep. 11, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO98/13445 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 2, 1998The present invention relates to novel lubricant compositions comprising a solid lubricant and a binding agent in water medium suitable for lubricating steel-steel interfaces such as tractor-trailer couplings, rail-wheel systems and other heavy duty applications. The invention also relates to compositions described above which include friction modifiers with high or very high and positive coefficients of friction such that the coefficient of friction is considerably higher than the solid lubricant. The invention further relates to compositions comprising a binding agent and a friction modifier with a very high and positive coefficient of friction in a water medium.
