    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission oil composition remarkably enhancing a friction coefficient between a metal belt or a chain and a pulley, capable of maintaining the high friction coefficient for a long period, and causing no clogging of a clutch plate.
    SOLUTION: This continuously variable transmission oil composition comprises a base oil and one of phosphorus compounds represented by formula (1) (wherein R
    1 , R
    2 , R
    3 , and R
    4 individually represent a 1-30C hydrocarbyl group or a hydrogen atom; R
    5 represents a 1-30C hydrocarbylene group; X
    1 and X
    2 represent an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; and n represents an integer of 1 to 10). The content of phosphorus originated from the phosphorus compound is 0.005-0.15 mass% based on the total amount of the composition. Further, the composition preferably comprises 0.5 to 10.0 mass% of a succinimide-based dispersant and 0.05 to 1.0 mass% of an alkaline earth metal-based cleaning agent.
