SOLUTION: The polypeptide that contains from 2 to 12 zinc finger-nucleotide binding regions contains a nucleotide binding region wherein at least one of the peptides has a specific sequence. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective vaccine in protection against various viruses causing airway infection. SOLUTION: An isolated negative strand RNA virus of mammals, that is, a metapneumovirus (MPV) belonging to a pneumovirus subfamily of a paramyxovirus family is provided. Especially, a mammalian MPV and its subgroup and variant species are provided. The invention relates to a genome nucleotide sequence of various isolated strains of the mammalian metapneumovirus, especially a human metapneumovirus. The invention relates to use of sequence information of various isolated strains of the mammalian metapneumovirus for diagnosis and therapy. The invention relates to a nucleotide sequence that codes a genome of metapneumoviruses including both the mammalian metapneumovirus and a poultry metapneumovirus or a part of the genome.
