    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device for rapidly and surely cutting of the transmission of an overload torque. SOLUTION: A gear part 7 serving as a torque limiter is coupled to a rotary member 5 which is rotated, integral with a pulley 3, so as to be axially movable in a rotationally limited condition, and is threadedly coupled to a hub 6 fixed to a shaft of a compressor, by a predetermined fastening torque. It is noted that the threaded coupling between the gear part 7 and the hub 6 is constituted in such a way that the fastening torque is decreased (loosened) by rotating the gear part 7 in the rotational direction of the pulley 3, relative to the hub 6. Thus, the compressor is locked so as to increase the load torque of the shaft 2 side. When the load torque becomes higher than the fastening torque of the gear part 7, the gear part 7 is rotated in the loosening direction, relative to the hub 6. As a result, the gear part 7 is axially moved while it is rotated integral with the rotary member 5, and accordingly, the threaded coupling with the hub 6 is released. Thus, the power transmission between the hub 6 and the rotary member 5 is cut off.

A bearing waterproof cover 5 covering the ball bearing 4 is disposed between a housing 1 of a compressor and the driving side rotor 2. Thereby, the ball bearing 4, especially a part near an inner ring 41 is prevented from infiltrating of water splashed on the compressor to prevent corrosion of a raceway surface of balls 43, without increasing size of the compressor and with more simple strucutre.

SOLUTION: A power transmission device 1 has an outer hub 5 united to a pulley 3 through a rubber body 4 and an inner hub 6 united to a shaft 2 of a compressor by spline coupling. The outer hub 5 is made of metal and provided in a toroidal shape, and a slit-shaped recess portion 5b is radially formed on the inner periphery side surface. The inner hub 6 is made of resin or sintered metal, and has a flange portion 6a axially opposite to the inner periphery side of the outer hub 5. On the back surface of the flange portion 6a, a rib-shaped projecting portion 6b which fits with the recess portion 5b of the outer hub 5 is radially provided. Therefore, when the shaft 2 is locked, stress concentrates on the projecting portion 6b of the inner hub 6 to break the projecting portion 6b, and the coupling state of the inner hub 6 and the outer hub 5 is released, so that torque transmission between both is cut off.

When a compressor is locked, for instance, to increase load torque of the shaft 2 side and the belt starts slipping on the pulley outer diameter part 3B, frictional heat is generated between the belt and the pulley outer diameter part 3B in association with the slip of the belt, and the frictional heat is conducted to the adhesive layer 7 through the pulley outer diameter part 3B high in heat conductivity. At this time, if a thermoplastic resin is used as the adhesive layer 7, the thermoplastic resin is fused receiving the frictional heat, so that adhesive strength of the pulley body 3A and pulley outer diameter part 3B is lowered to put the pulley body 3A and pulley outer diameter part 3B in a relatively rotatable state, and the pulley outer diameter part 3B can be rotated receiving rotational power transmitted through the belt.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque limiter capable of rapidly reducing load between a first and a second rotation bodies immediately after the actuation of the limiter. SOLUTION: This torque limiter 2 is provided with a torque transmitting fitting part 8 for fitting a pulley 1 and a hub 5 ruggedly, and an axial moving means 9 for axially shifting a protruding part 8b of the torque transmitting fitting part 8 when rugged fitting comes off to cause the relative rotation of the pulley 1 and hub 5. The axial moving means 9 is a tapered face 9a formed at the side face of a recessed part 8a, that is, an inclined face extending axially forward. When the pulley 1 is rotated in relation to the hub 5 by the actuation of the limiter, the tapered face 9a pushes out the protruding part 8b axially forward to release the rugged fitting of the torque transmitting fitting part 8. Large load is not therefore applied to a belt after the actuation of the limiter.
