SOLUTION: The method includes conducting a reaction, with hydrogen fluoride, at least in a suitable reaction solvent, of at least one difluorotris(perfluoroalkyl)phosphorane or at least one trifluorobis (perfluoroalkyl)phosphorane (also including heating the resultant reaction mixture) to prepare the bis(perfluoroalkyl)phosphinic acid, which is also neutralized with an amine or the like to obtain a salt thereof.
