PURPOSE:To provide a concentration sensor for detecting the concentration of alcohol accurately even the fuel temperature is not settled. CONSTITUTION:Upon application of a square wave from a pulse oscillating section 21, a detecting capacitor 113 is charged instantaneously. Subsequently, current flows through a discharge resistor and the capacitor 113 is discharged. Since the capacitor 113 has a capacitance proportional to the concentration of alcohol, the concentration can be detected by detecting the time to be elapsed before the capacitor 113 is discharged to a predetermined threshold value. A resistance detecting capacitor 116 can elevate the threshold value as the fuel temperature lowers thus allowing accurate detection of alcoholic concentration even if the fuel temperature varies abruptly.

PURPOSE:To sensitively detect abnormality, and at the same time, even if there is a noise of the same phase and same level, to enable the detection thereof by converting a mechanical control input into a plurality of electric signals of differnt conversion ratios, and further by enlarging once again the amount of abnormality for comparison. CONSTITUTION:In an accelerator operation system of an automobile, a pair of converters for generating two kinds of analogue electric signals in accordance with the turning angle of a shaft 2a are incorporated in an accelerator opening sensor 2, while the conversion ratios of the respective converters are different to each other. The two analogue electric signals are sent to an engine control computer 5 through transmission cables 4a, 4b. In this way, one mechanical control input is converted into a plurality of electric signals of different patterns in accordance with the amount of control input, and a comparison/calculating part reads the converted electric signals and calculates the amount of control input, and on the basis of the difference in the calculated results, the presence of abnormality is judged. Thus, the abnormality of a control input signal transmission system can be sensitively detected.

PURPOSE:To optimize the material quality and arrangement of a valve lifter by forming the valve lifter from FRP containing a specific weight percent of fibers having a glass transition temperature of higher than 200 deg. C and a length obtained by multiplying the outer diameter of the valve lifter with a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An FRP valve lifter body 11 having an insert 12 provided to a part with which the stem end of a valve makes contact is made of fiber- reinforced plastic containing 30 to 70wt% of fibers having a glass-transition temperature of higher than 200 deg. C and a length obtained by multiplying the outer diameter of the valve lifter with a value of 0.2 to 1.5. With this arrangement, the material quality and arrangement of the valve lifter is optimized so that the valve lifter can be put into practical use. Accordingly, it is possible to make the valve lifter lightweight and to reduce noise from a valve drive system.

PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance by collecting the magnetic metal pieces into the sliding part of a valve lifter by magnetism and hardening the fiber-reinforced resin. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a cavity which forms a valve lifter is charged with the fiber-reinforced resin B mixed with the magnetic metal pieces C. The metal pieces C are collected by the magnetism of an electric magnet 4 onto the cavity inner peripheral wall surface side where the sliding part of the valve lifter is formed. Then, the fiber-reinforced resin B is hardened. Therefore, the abrasion resistance of the sliding part of the valve lifter can be increased.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle hydrogen utilization system capable of improving safety by suppressing the generation of reaction between hydrogen and air when a vehicle collides. SOLUTION: The in-vehicle hydrogen utilization system is composed of a methanol tank 1 for storing methanol as original fuel of hydrogen used as fuel for the system, a water tank 2 for storing water, a methanol reformer 10 for generating hydrogen fuel from methanol and water, an electromagnetic valve 4a provided in a passage 3a connecting the methanol tank 1 and the reformer 10, a hydrogen engine 20 for burning the hydrogen fuel supplied from the reformer 10, and an electromagnetic valve 4b provided in a passage 3b connecting the reformer 10 and the hydrogen engine 20, and an electronic control unit 30 for controlling each part of the hydrogen utilization system. The electronic control unit 30 closes the passages 3a, 3b by forcibly closing the electromagnetic valves 4a, 4b on the basis of a detection signal from an impact sensor 40 when the collision of a vehicle occurs. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of restraining variation of the number of rotation of the internal combustion engine and supplying sufficient electric power at the time of heating an electric heating type catalyst device. SOLUTION: It is furnished with a generator 2 driven by an internal combustion engine 1, an intake air quantity variation means 3 to vary intake air quantity of an engine arranged in an intake system of the engine 1, an electric heating catalyst device EHC4 arranged in an exhaust system of the engine 1 as well as supplied with electric power from an electric power source consisting of a battery 8 charged by the generator 2 and the generator 2 and a produced energy variation means 7 to vary generated energy of the generator 2 by varying field quantity of the generator 2, the intake air quantity is increased by the intake air quantity variation means 3, and the produced energy of the generator 2 is increased by the produced energy variation means 7 while the EHC4 is made in an active state. Additionally, increasing start of the field quantity of the generator 2 is delayed by specified time later than increasing start of the intake air quantity, or increase of the intake air quantity and increase of the field quantity of the generator 2 are gradually carried out.

PURPOSE:To match the total output value of plural sensor parts with a prescribed value and to improve the fault detecting performance for the output value by constituting the detector by using those sensor parts which output the different analog signals to a certain analog quantity. CONSTITUTION:One of both accelerator opening degree sensors R11 and R12 has its characteristic to increase the output value in response to the increase of the accelerator opening degree, while the other sensor has its characteristic to reduce the output value respectively. The total output value of both sensors R11 and R12 is always kept at Vc. In other words, the directions of voltage applied to both ends of each resistance of both sensors R11 and R12 are set opposite to each other, and the total voltage applied to the inputs chX and chY of a multiplexer circuit 13 is equal to the voltage Vc. Therefore, the total output value of both sensors R11 and R12 which are read by a CPU 16 is always kept constant, i.e., at the voltage Vc. That is, the output value is not normal when the total output of both sensors R11 and R12 is not equal to the voltage Vc.

PURPOSE:To prevent overrun of a vehicle and deterioration of drivability by accurately judging erroneous operation of an acceleration pedal in the operation controller of an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:It is discriminated by a first time discrimination means M1 whether a first specified time passes or not after operation of a brake pedal is stopped. It is discriminated by a second time discrimination means M2 whether a second specified time has passes or not after shift-change is performed. It is judged by a stepping-in discrimination means M3 whether stepping force or stepping-in speed of the acceleration pedal is more than the specified value or not. Operation of an internal combustion engine M4 is controlled by a control means M5 for disabling a vehicle to run when the first specified time has passed but the second specified time has not yet passes and the stepping force or stepping speed is less than the specified value.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To test a vehicle system in real time through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: A start signal representative of simulation start is transmitted from a GUI node to each node in response to a simulation start command (100, 102). Each node is initialized upon receiving the start signal and when initialization of all nodes is ended, a sync signal is transmitted to each node in order to synchronize a vehicle system test equipment (104, 106). Operation period t of each node, which is the greatest common measure of periods of one loop operation, is then detected based on the state from each node (110) and a communication period T, which is the greatest common measure of the operation period of respective nodes, is determined (112). Subsequently, a sync period V for operating the vehicle system test equipment while synchronizing is set (114) and real time processing is executed by a sync signal having a set sync period (116-124).
