摘要:
Described herein is a new architecture of a combustion chamber for a diesel engine, which allows arranging the engine valves (VA1, VA2, VS1, VS2) according to an axis (VX) inclined with respect to the cylinder axis (CX) by an angle (±) greater than 8°, without reducing the swirl ratio obtained at the end of the compression stage.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently generate swirl while simplifying the structure of double suction ports connecting to the combustion chamber of an engine. SOLUTION: A first suction port 19 comprising a straight port and having a linearly formed throat 43 generates a first swirl S1 by opening toward the tangential direction of inner periphery of a cylinder 11a. A second helical suction port 20 having a helically formed throat 44 generates a second swirl S2 of the same direction as the first swirl S1 inside it. Thereby, it is possible to efficiently generate the first and second swirls S1 and S2 which do not interfere mutually without substantially inflecting the suction ports 19 and 20 as a whole, and thus possible to reduce the machining cost of a cylinder head, and downsize and simplify its structure. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake port for an internal combustion engine compatibly establishing high tumble ratio and high flow rate coefficient. SOLUTION: A center line C1 of the intake port 1 is inclined to a center line C2 of a combustion chamber 2, an annular seat ring 5 is arranged in an area facing the combustion chamber 2 of the intake port 1. An inner circumference surface 6 of the seat ring 5 is constructed to have an area 6a near a center of the combustion chamber 2 inclined along the flow passage of the intake port 1 and to have an area 6b near an outer circumference part of the combustion chamber 2 expanded toward the combustion chamber 2. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake port structure for an internal combustion engine improving intake efficiency of intake air to a combustion chamber by improving passage structure of the intake port. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine in which an intake valve 10 opens and closes a combustion chamber opening 6 with slidably supported at a valve stem 10a thereof by a valve guide 11 fixed on an outer curved wall in a middle of an intake port 7 bored from a side of a cylinder head, curved and reaching the combustion chamber opening 6, passage section area of a downstream part 7L of the intake port 7 reduces as it goes back to an upstream side from the combustion chamber opening 6. The passage section area of a position P 10 going back to the upstream side from the combustion chamber opening by about 10% of whole length of the suction port 7 is 0.8 times of area of the combustion chamber opening or less.
