This invention provides also the anti-dengue virus agent containing the compound or the pharmaceutically allowed salt of the compound as an effective component. The compound has merits as an antiviral agent such as excellent solubility, high stability at room temperature and easy and low-cost chemical synthesis as the anti-dengue virus agent.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antiviral and an antimicrobial agents, containing a furanonaphthoquinone derivative and having excellent activity and little side effect. SOLUTION: The agents contain a compound of the formula [R is R', OR', etc., (R' is H, an alkyl, a hydroxyalkyl or an alkoxyalkyl) or adjacent R groups may form a heterocarbon ring via an oxygen atom] as an active component. As an example of a compound of the formula, 2-methylnaphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9- dione is cited. A compound of the formula can be obtained by a known chemical synthetic method, or by the extraction, etc., of a naphthoquinone from bark, etc., as a natural product. The agent is effective on an RNA viral disease such as Japanese encephalitis, dengue, rubeola, mumps, rubella, influenza, viral hepatitis A, viral hepatitis C, chronic rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus erythematosus. Further, the agent exhibits excellent antimicrobial activity on Eumycetes, Gram negative bacteria, etc.
