Abstract:
A user friendly, safe and efficient continuous flow irrigation endoscope having only a single housing sheath without an inner sheath. The exclusion of the inner sheath increases the effective lumen of the endoscope. A long hollow cylindrical tube, capable of performing a to and fro and rotary motion, is placed inside the housing sheath to function as an endoscopic instrument, but also to serve as a conduit for evacuating waste fluid and detached tissue pieces present inside a tissue cavity. A single inflow port located at the proximal end of the single housing sheath allows the irrigation fluid to enter the tissue cavity via the lumen of the said housing sheath. The invented endoscope system has a single inflow port, a single outflow port, without an inner sheath so that all waste fluid and tissue debris present inside cavity are evacuated via the same single outflow port. No type of feedback mechanism, such as mechanical or electrical feedback mechanism, is incorporated in the endoscope to facilitate the removal of detached tissue pieces or waste fluid.

Abstract:
A system and a method for distending a body tissue cavity of a subject by continuous flow irrigation by using two positive displacement pumps, such as peristaltic pumps, one pump on the inflow side and another pump on the outflow side, such that the amplitude of the pressure pulsations created by the positive displacement pumps inside the tissue cavity is substantially dampened to almost negligible levels. The present invention also provides a method of reducing the frequency of the said pressure pulsations. The present invention also provides a method for accurately determining the rate of fluid loss, into the subject's body system, during any endoscopic procedure without utilizing any deficit weight or fluid volume calculation, the same being accomplished by using two fluid flow rate sensors.
Abstract:
A system for minimizing leakage of fluid distending media by the sides of the endoscopic instrument in endoscopic procedures such as arthroscopy, hysteroscopy or laparoscopy. A double-wall flexible tubular sheath having walls containing pressurized fluid is mounted over an endoscopic instrument. The double-wall flexible tubular sheath moves in and out of a natural opening of a tissue cavity or through an incision made in the cavity wall.
Abstract:
Apparatus for and a method of decompression of block coded video data in a multi-core processor. The processor cores decode respective coded groups of blocks of video data independently, in parallel and deblock respective decoded groups of blocks of video data independently and in parallel with the decode operations and with other deblock operations.
Abstract:
Historical usage data related to user queries and training properties for a plurality of web pages is received and utilized to train a mathematical model to predict the likelihood of retrieval of a web page during a web search. Properties are extracted from the plurality of web pages in the index and the mathematical model is applied to the properties for each web page to calculate a sortrank value. The index is reordered based on the sortrank value such that the web pages most likely to be retrieved by a user submitting a search query appear first in the index. After a search query is received from a user the index is traversed in an order determined by the sortrank value. Responsive web pages are presented to the user in an order determined by a search engine ranking algorithm.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, an electrochemical cell such as a fuel cell is provided to include a bipolar plate. The bipolar plate includes a metal substrate defining at least one flow channel having a channel span of no greater than 1.0 millimeter; and the metal substrate includes a stainless steel material less precious than stainless steel SS316L. In certain instances, the channel span is of 0.7 to 0.9 millimeters. In certain other instances, the flow channel has a channel depth of 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters. In yet other instances, the plate substrate includes stainless steel SS301, stainless steel SS302, or combinations thereof. In another embodiment, the electrochemical cell further includes a gas diffusion layer disposed next to the bipolar plate.
Abstract:
A hybrid powertrain has an engine, an input member, an output member, and a stationary member, and includes a single planetary gear set having a first, a second, and a third member. The input member is connected for common rotation with the engine and the output member is connected for common rotation with the second member. A single motor/generator is continuously connected for common rotation with the third member. A starter motor is operatively connected to the engine for starting the engine. A first torque-transmitting mechanism is selectively engagable to connect the input member for rotation with the first member. A second torque-transmitting mechanism is selectively engagable to ground the first member to the stationary member. A third torque-transmitting mechanism is selectively engagable to ground the third member to the stationary member. The powertrain is operable in an electric-only operating mode, an engine-only operating mode, and an electrically-variable operating mode.
Abstract:
Single-use character combinations are a secure mechanism for user authentication. Such “one-time passwords” (OTPs) can be generated by a mobile device to which the user otherwise maintains easy access. A key exchange, such as in accordance with the Diffie-Hellman algorithm, can provide both the mobile device and a server with a shared secret from which the OTPs can be generated. The shared secret can be derived from parameters posted on the server and updated periodically, and the mobile device can obtain such parameters from the server before generating an OTP. Such parameters can also specify the type of OTP mechanism to be utilized. A second site can, independently, establish an OTP mechanism with the mobile device. For efficiency, the first server can provide an identity token which provides the mobile device's public key in a trusted manner, enabling more efficient generation of the shared secret with the second server.

A method of forming a protective barrier in an organic light emitting device is disclosed, wherein the organic light emitting device is formed on a substrate and includes a plurality of layers of materials, the plurality of layers of materials including an organic light emitting layer. The method includes forming an inorganic layer and a semi-crystalline parylene-based polymer layer over an underlying layer, wherein the semi-crystalline parylene-based polymer layer is formed via transport polymerization of a reactive intermediate species. Organic light emitting devices having barriers are also disclosed.
