    摘要: A system for use in boosting the weak battery of a vehicle to permit operation of the starter of such a vehicle including at least one booster battery for providing the required energy for boosting the weak battery. The circuit for connecting the booster battery to the weak battery of the vehicle includes a relay having an electromagnetic winding connected to an energizing circuit and an armature responsive to the electromagnetic winding for operating a main set of contacts and an auxiliary set of contacts. A resistor is connected in series with the auxiliary set of contacts and the series combination of said auxiliary set of contacts and said resistor is connected in parallel with said main set of contacts. The booster battery is connected to the weak battery through said sets of main and auxiliary contacts and the armature of the relay is designed in such a way as to close said auxiliary set of contacts ahead of said main set of contacts and to open said auxiliary set of contacts after said main set of contacts so as to prevent arcing at the terminals of said main set of contacts due to the energy stored in the starter of the vehicle.

    摘要: An adjustable electrical load bank which comprises an upper and lower horizontal, electrically conducting plates mounted parallel to each other on a frame and both electrically insulated from this frame. The lower plate is fixedly mounted on the frame while the upper plate is movably connected thereto through four spring devices. Three vertical piles of disk-shaped carbon elements are disposed between the two horizontal plates and each have an electrical resistance between their respective upper and lower ends which varies with pressure applied thereon. An upper and lower pistons separated by an helicoidal spring are disposed in a vertical cylinder mounted on the frame. The upper piston is associated with a manually operated cam while the lower piston is fixedly connected to the upper plate. Upon operation of the cam, the helicoidal spring produces a force acting against a force generated by the four spring devices for applying pressure on the piles. An accurate adjustment within a range of light pressures on the piles is therefore enabled due to these reverse forces for thereby allowing to give to the pile resistances corresponding values. When the helicoidal spring is completely compressed, the cam can still be operated to apply relatively high pressures on the piles to vary their resistances accordingly. The load bank is particularly suitable for use in wide current range battery testers.

    摘要: A clock circuit includes an oscillator for generating a reference frequency signal, and a spread spectrum clock generator cooperating with the oscillator for generating a spread spectrum clock output signal having a fundamental frequency and reduced amplitude EMI spectral components at harmonics of the fundamental frequency. The spread spectrum clock generator preferably includes a clock pulse generator for generating a series of clock pulses, and a spread spectrum modulator for frequency modulating the clock pulse generator to broaden and flatten amplitudes of EMI spectral components which would otherwise be produced by the clock pulse generator. The spread spectrum modulator frequency modulates the clock pulses with specific profiles of frequency deviation versus the period of the profile. Electronic devices including the spread spectrum clock circuit and associated method are also disclosed.
