    摘要： An improved cable assembly for electrical overload protection, the cable assembly having a first cable, a second cable, a fusible link, and a protective housing. The first and second cables have a protective covering and an end portion extending past the protective covering. The fusible link is located between the first and second cables such that the end portions of the cables are electrically connected to opposing ends of the fusible link. The protective housing encases a portion of the fusible link, with an intermediate section of the protective housing being spaced away from a portion of the fusible link to form a cavity. The protective housing also engages a portion of the first and second cables to form a rigid interconnecting housing around the fusible link and portions of the first and second cables.

    摘要： A slow blow fuse of the shunt type includes a pair of spaced terminals between which is connected and suspended a fuse wire assembly including a core of insulating material having at least a pair of fuse filaments upon the same, the outer of which is preferably an untinned spirally wound filament wrapped a number of times around one and more preferably at least two straight filaments, only one of which is tin plated, extending axially along the core. The uncoated spirally wound filament thus makes repeated physical and axial spaced electrical contact with the tinned filament. There are thus at least two fuse filaments in electrical parallel relation at a number of different locations therealong, each sharing a layer of tin coating. Each of the fuse filaments comprises a body of base metal which will melt instantly under short circuit current and is to melt under prolonged modest overload currents when the melting temperature lowering tinning material progressively migrates fully into the base metal body of the fuse filaments.

    摘要： The present invention provides a fuse block having a plurality of fuse connections. The fuse connections include an array of embedded terminals that contact the initially provided fuse elements. When one of the fuse elements opens, an operator remakes the open connection by inserting an external replacement fuse. The fuse connections therefore eliminate the need to initially provide separate external fuses. In an embodiment, the terminals include fork shaped projections that receive one of the terminals of the replacement fuse, which also eliminates the need for additional female inserts commonly found in automobile fuse blocks. The fuse block is simple, wherein a plurality of same may be provided in an automobile to cut down on long lengths of wire running from load devices to a traditional, single centrally located fuse block.

    摘要： A fuse is disclosed having terminal leads electrically connected by a fusible link, and insulated within a housing. The housing is preferably made from a material which burns cleanly and has improved ablative qualities to prevent accelerated arcing within the plasma generated by the housing during high energy periods. The desired material should have an arc resistance of about 60 to about 120 seconds, a CTI of about 250 to about 400 volts, an arc ignition resistance of greater than 120 arcs, an arc tracking rate of about 25 to about 80 millimeters per minute, and a hot wire ignition value of greater than 120 seconds. Such material being capable of increasing the voltage rating of a standard 32 volt fuse almost ten-fold to about 300 volts.

    摘要： An automotive blade-type fuse has an enlarged transparent extraction flange. The flange is configured as a thin-wall structure having a cavity therein running substantially its entire length. The fuse terminal blades are captively secured in a housing to extend from the bottom thereof and have narrow extensions at the outer edges of the blades which extend upwardly into the flange cavity. A fuse link extends between the blade extensions within the cavity and at a stand-off distance from the interior walls of the cavity. The fuse housing is preferably of identical half-shell construction having lengthwise-running centering ribs and associated mating recesses to facilitate assembly.
