Abstract:
An adjustable camshaft sprocket assembly includes a hub and a sprocket body secured to the hub. A stud-receiving opening is defined in one of the hub flange and the sprocket body, and a tool-receiving opening is defined in the other of the hub flange and the sprocket body. The tool-receiving opening is aligned with the stud-receiving opening and is adapted to receive a body portion of an adjustment tool, and the stud-receiving opening is adapted to receive an eccentric stud of the adjustment tool. Either the stud-receiving opening or the tool-receiving opening is elongated. Rotation of the adjustment tool when its body is located in the tool-receiving opening and its eccentric stud is located in the stud-receiving opening causes relative angular movement between the hub and the sprocket body. One or more fasteners are used to immovably secure the sprocket body to the hub after adjustment. A tool includes cylindrical base, a driving head, and an eccentric stud. The stud comprises a spring pin press-fit into a bore.
Abstract:
Apparatus especially useful in internal combustion engines for adjusting the timing and including a shaft having a longitudinal axis and mounted for rotation about said axis with a circular drive member carried by the shaft. An adjustable key assembly is located between the shaft and the drive member for conducting drive forces therebetween while permitting selective relative angular adjustment. The adjustable key assembly includes a key member having a first end pivotally engaged with one of the shaft and drive member and a second end slidably engaged with the other of the shaft and drive member. The second end of the key member and the other of the shaft and drive member include cooperating inclined surfaces for producing relative angular movement between the shaft and the drive member when the key member is selectively pivoted about the first end.
Abstract:
A game controller, gaming system for multi-player games, and an associated method are provided. The system is configured for situations in which multiple players are in one location. The system includes a secondary display assembly in viewing proximity to a single player and a console operable to output singe player-specific tactical information to the secondary display assembly, receive game input information from a game controller operated by the single player, and output display information other than single player-specific tactical information to a primary display assembly for viewing by each of the players.
Abstract:
An adjustable form, for use in casting cementitious material on a preformed footing structure. The form having a frame, a pair of parallel-spaced vertical sidewalls, and at least one vertically disposed oblong aperture within one sidewall. The vertically disposed oblong aperture allows for placement of a connecting pin through the oblong aperture so as to connect one form with respect to a second form offset relative to the second form. Thus, accommodating variations in the preformed footing with one form being.
Abstract:
Apparatus for permitting selective adjustment of the angular position of a sprocket or gear relative to a driven shaft for changing the timing of an internal combustion engine includes a circular sprocket carried on an end face of the cam shaft in axial alignment with the shaft's axis of rotation. A first pin extends from the end face parallel to the axis of rotation at a location radially outwardly thereof through an enlarged opening in the sprocket. An adjusting plate is engaged with the sprocket on the side opposite the end face. The adjusting plate is positively engaged with the first pin with a second pin extending between the adjusting plate and the sprocket parallel to the axis of rotation but at a radial location different than the first pin such that angular adjustment of the adjusting plate about the axis of the first pin produces angular adjustment of the sprocket relative to the axis of rotation of the shaft.
Abstract:
A roller chain timing drive reduces noise by thinning the teeth and elongating the root land in between each pair of teeth. Specifically, through detailed calculation, the root land is elongated resulting in a reduced thickness of the teeth as measured across itself from a drive flank to a coast flank. The result is maintained contact of all rollers wrapped around a sprocket throughout the entire design life of the chain and sprockets which reduces noise.
Abstract:
A timing chain cover which is mounted to an engine block having an opening in general axial alignment with an exposed end of a camshaft. A cap is mounted to the cover and generally seated in the opening. The cap includes a hole in general axial alignment with the camshaft and an adjustable button is secured in the hole. One end of the button engages the camshaft to prevent cam walk and opposed end is accessible for adjustment without removal of the cover from the engine block.
Abstract:
A timing gear device includes a first rotatably supported shaft, a first gear, having a predetermined number of circumferentially spaced teeth, engaged on and carried by the first shaft and a second rotatably supported shaft spaced from the first shaft. A second gear having a predetermined number of circumferentially spaced teeth is engaged on and carried by the second shaft. The first gear and the second gear are engaged with each other. A timing device is provided for changing the rotative position of the second shaft and the second gear in relation to the first shaft and the first gear. The timing device includes a single primary keyway in one of the second gear and the second shaft and a plurality of secondary keyways in another of the second gear and the second shaft. The secondary keyways have differing configurations. A key is provided in the primary keyway. The key is engaged in a predetermined one of the secondary keyways to establish a driving engagement between the second shaft and the second gear.
Abstract:
An adjustable timing gear arrangement having an output shaft and a camshaft operable in timed relationship with the output shaft comprises a first rotatable drive member driven by the output shaft with a second rotatable drive member mounted on the camshaft and operably connected with the first drive member for rotation in timed relation therewith. The second drive member is mounted on the camshaft for rotation on a common axis with the second drive member and the camshaft and is secured thereto to fix the angular relationship of the members. The mounting permits limited relative angular rotation of the members when the members are not so secured. For adjusting the relative angular positions of the second drive member and the camshaft there is an assembly including an unthreaded, cylindrical stud extending from the camshaft into a radially extending slotted opening through the second drive member. The opening includes angularly spaced, parallel sides. An eccentric cam is freely rotatable on the cylindrical stud and closely fits between the parallel sides of the slotted opening. A tool receiving portion on the cam is arranged for permitting selected rotation of the cam to cause relative angular adjustment of the second drive member relative to the camshaft. The slotted opening and the eccentric cam have cooperating interengaging portions lying in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the camshaft for retaining the cam in the slotted opening while permitting free rotation of the cam relative to the second drive member.
