Abstract:
Methods and apparatus provide for: establishing communications between a controller for operation by a user and a center device, wherein the center device is operable to execute at least one application program and to produce an output for display that is manipulated in accordance with inputs received by the center device from the controller device; measuring one or more pieces of biometric information of the user via a biometric sensor circuit of the controller; storing one or more pieces of predetermined user information, including authentication key information about the user in a memory element of the controller; and performing authentication of the user by comparing the measured biometric information with the predetermined authentication key information via a control circuit of the controller, where authentication is satisfied when the comparison indicates a predetermined threshold of concurrence between the measured biometric information and the predetermined authentication key information.
Abstract:
One or more persistent customized social media environments are created allowing users to share content or an activity. The content or activity may comprise a shared media experience or shared participatory experience. Each user accessing the environment utilizes a device alone or in conjunction with other devices to complete a sharing experience. A persistent customized social media environment definition establishes a user environment which provides social networking services as well as content sharing and allows users who are connected to the persistent customized social media environment definition to experience instant messages, while those users who connect to the persistent customized social media environment at a later time will receive messages once they enter the environment.
Abstract:
A method of communicating data between a game console unit and at least one wireless mobile game controller is disclosed. The method includes establishing an uplink from the at least one mobile game controller to the game console unit via a first millimeter-wave wireless link, and establishing a downlink from the game console unit to the at least one wireless mobile game controller via a second millimeter wave wireless link.
Abstract:
A computer game interface is disclosed, having controller inputs configured to receive an input signal from a user interface controller and to enable the user to control a user controllable element of a game on a computer. The computer game interface also has a controller output that sends an output signal to the computer, the output signal having information to control the user controllable element of the game. Another element of the computer game interface is a switching module in communication with the controller inputs and the controller output. The switching module selects an input signal from the input signals received by the controller inputs and communicates the input signal to the controller output. An additional element of the computer game interface is a timer controlling the switching module to switch the input signal communicated to the controller output based on a time period.
Abstract:
The present invention deals with a multi-person viewable 3-D display TV which comprises of a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen with backlights at multiple frequency ranges, a multidimensional control circuit to control information signals independently, a set of frequency filter visual glasses and audio apparatus integrated with the glasses. The LCD screen is made to display different pictures simultaneously on the full area of the screen, each at a particular frequency range different with others. This is fulfilled by proper pixel grid arrangement, effective controllability of pixels and correct sub-pixel addressing. A frequency channel is defined as the range of frequencies which contains the complete information of the video picture on the screen. The TV control circuit processes different audio and video (RF/IF) signals of different frequency channels independently, each in a similar methods as in a conventional LCD TV. The viewer's visual glass is configured to selectively enable the viewer to be able to view pictures of a particular frequency channel through the glass based on the signals from a processor. Thus, multiple pictures through different frequency channels are displayed simultaneously on the single LCD screen and are selectively viewed by different viewers depending on the glasses that they wear. Methods, devices, and systems to implement the above mentioned invention are hereby disclosed.
Abstract:
Example systems and methods relate to playing a multi-player video game in which multiple players each supply inputs to a respective input device to control a corresponding game character in a game world displayed on a display screen. Movements of each game character in the game world are controlled in accordance with respective first game character control operations during the playing of the multi-player video game. In response to satisfaction of one or more conditions, one player's game character is protected from harm in the game world, wherein one of the one or more conditions is a condition triggered voluntarily by the one player. Movements of the protected game character in the game world are controlled based on a position of another, unprotected game character.
Abstract:
An inclination of a first unit is detected based on an output from a first acceleration sensor provided in a first unit of a controller, and an inclination of a second unit is detected based on an output from a second acceleration sensor provided in a second unit separate from the first unit. A difference between the inclinations of the first unit and the second unit is detected, and game control is performed using the detected difference. Thus, with a game apparatus using a plurality of acceleration sensors or a plurality of sensors capable of detecting a motion or a posture, a dynamic play is made possible with a high degree of freedom of motion and an intuitive motion input is realized.
Abstract:
An image providing apparatus, a display unit; a controller configured to receive a first image and a second image different from the first image. In addition, the first and second images are different from pair of stereoscopic images, to display the received first and second images on the same display region of the display unit; a first glasses configured to pass only the displayed first image; and a second glasses configured to pass only the displayed second image. Furthermore, the first glasses is different from the second glasses.
Abstract:
There is provided a system and method for determining a number of players present using facial recognition. There is provided a method comprising capturing an image of the players present, and determining the number of players present based on the image. In this manner, players may more easily configure game settings, whereas spectators may be presented a more engaging experience.
Abstract:
A method includes identifying, at a media device, a viewing zone of a plurality of viewing zones associated with a display device. Each viewing zone of the plurality of viewing zones corresponds to a different spatial region of a plurality of spatial regions relative to the display device, where each viewing zone has a corresponding spatial region. The method further includes selecting a video stream based on the viewing zone. The method further includes sending the video stream from the media device to the display device.
