Abstract: For a programmable direct current (DC)-DC converter application, a driver system includes a switched mode power circuit for providing a DC power signal to an electrical load and a control block. Control block includes interfaces coupled to receive at least one real-time input signal from a low voltage region of the switched mode power circuit and to provide at least one control signal to the low voltage region. Control block configures the switched mode power circuit to provide the DC power signal having at least one power parameter within a tolerance of a power configuration setting value of the electrical load. Control block responds to the at least one real-time input signal from the low voltage region to adjust operation of the low voltage region via the at least one control signal. Low voltage region can include a plurality of switched converter circuits.

Abstract: A method for operating a robotic agent swarm system. The method includes: sending, via a communication network, a reconfiguration instruction from an orchestration controller to a number of robotic luminaire agents, each of the robotic luminaire agents of the swarm system being held at least periodically against an architectural surface comprising a holonomic operational area by a suspension and having a light source configured to illuminate a region in a proximity of the architectural surface. The method also includes changing one or more operating conditions of one or more of the robotic luminaire agents in response to the reconfiguration instruction, including holonomically moving at least one of the robotic luminaire agents from a first position on the holonomic operational area to a second position on the holonomic operational area.

Abstract: A robotic agent swarm system having first robotic luminaire agents, and at least one control processor. Each agent has a suspension configured to hold the agent against an architectural surface, which includes a holonomic operational area; at least one propulsion motor configured to enable holonomic movement of the agent different locations on the architectural surface; a communication system configured to communicate with at least one other agent; a power supply operatively connected to the at least one propulsion motor and the communication system; and a light source oriented to illuminate a region around the architectural surface. The control processor is operatively associated with the agents and configured to transmit operating instructions, via at least one of the agent's respective communication system. The operating instructions include instructions for operating one or more agent's respective propulsion motor to move the agent holonomically within the holonomic operational area.

Abstract: A control pod includes a controller to control an environmental condition in a space, and a cover plate covering the controller and having a light transmissive area extending along a substantial section of an outer perimeter of the cover plate. Programming configures a processor to detect user inputs of a control command based on a user action detected via user input response sensors, and based on the detected control command, send a control signal to a device to implement a function corresponding to the detected control command. The processor also controls a light source to selectively provide a light output through the light transmissive area of the cover plate for a period of time following the control command detection, as visible feedback corresponding to the detected control command, for observation by the user, along at least a portion of the section of the light transmissive area of the cover plate.

Abstract: A lighting device includes a light source, an image sensor, a controller, a memory, and a wireless transceiver. The light source is configured to emit light for general illumination. The image sensor is configured to acquire an image of an area illuminated by the light source. The controller is coupled to control the image sensor and to receive the acquired image of the illuminated area from the image sensor. The controller is configured to operate the wireless transceiver to receive identification information from a wireless device in the illuminated area. The controller is further configured to automatically generate a visual signature based on image information of a person or object, obtained from the image of the illuminated area. The controller also is configured to store the visual signature of the person or object in the memory in association with the wireless device identification information.

Abstract: A multi-stage driver system includes a switched mode power circuit for providing power to different electrical load(s). Multi-stage driver system includes a control block including at least one microcontroller coupled to control operations of the switched mode power circuit. Switched mode power circuit includes a high voltage region, a low voltage region, and an isolation barrier. High voltage region of the switched mode power circuit includes a switched rectifier and a switched bridge circuit configured to produce a high voltage bidirectional pulse train signal for output to an isolation barrier. Low voltage region of the switched mode power circuit includes a rectification circuit coupled to the isolation barrier and at least one switched converter circuit coupled to the rectification circuit. Control block receives real-time input signals (e.g., analog voltage reading(s)) from the high and low voltage regions and responsively produces control signals to the high and low voltage regions.

Abstract: The examples relate to implementations of apparatuses, such as lighting devices, and a system that uses a speech-based user interface to provide speech-based navigation services. The speech-based user interface provides navigation instructions that direct a person to the location of an item within a premises. The person interacts with a speech-based apparatus to receive the navigation instructions as speech-based directions through the premises from a specified location to the item location, or as static navigation instructions enabling the person to navigate from the specified location to the item location. A directional microphone and a controllable speaker receive audio inputs from and output audio outputs to a specified location or subarea of the premises to a person using the speech-based user interface. The audio outputs are directed to the person in the subarea of the premises, and have a higher amplitude within the subarea than outside the subarea of the premises.

Abstract: A lighting system includes luminaires each having a light source for providing illumination in a space and a radio frequency identification (RFID) antenna. An RFID reader is coupled to the RFID antennas in all the luminaires. The RFID reader may transmit at least one RFID intended recipient message from at least one of the antennas and receive a responsive RFID reply message from a recipient device within the space via a plurality of the antennas. The RFID reader may determine a signal attribute of a reply message signal received via each receiving antenna. The determined signal attributes of the reply message signals received via antennas and information about locations of the receiving antennas are processed to estimate a position of the recipient device within the space.
