Abstract:
CHROMIUM COMPLEXES OF FLUOROCARBON CARBOXYLIC ACIDS CHARACTERIZED BY HAVING A POLYDUOROISOALKOXYALKYL TAIL WHEREIN AN ETHER OXYGEN LINKS A FLUORINATED CARBON ATOM CONNECTED TO TWO FLUOROALKYL GROUPS AND A -CF2CF2GROUP. THESE CHROMIM COMPLEXES ARE USEFUL TO IMPART OIL AND WATER RESISTANCE TO VARIOUS SUBSTRATES INCLUDING PAPER, LEATHER, AND THE LIKE.

CHROMIUM COMPLEXES OF FLUOROCARBON CARBOXYLIC ACIDS CHARACTERIZED BY HAVING A POLYFLUOROISOALKOXYALKYL TAIL WHEREIN AN ETHER OXYGEN ATOM LINKS A FLUORINATED CARBON ATOM CONNECTED TO TWO FLUOROALKYL GROUPS AND AT LEAST ONE -CF2CF2-GROUP. THESE CHROMIUM COMPLEXES ARE USEFUL TO IMPART OIL AND WATER RESISTANCE TO VARIOUS SUBSTRATES, INCLUDING PAPER, LEATHER, AND THE LIKE.
Abstract:
Copolymers of chlorotrifluoroethylene and vinylidene fluoride, optionally together with tetrafluoroethylene, are dissolved in hexafluorobenzene. The solutions may be used for coating, casting films and for seaming metals and plastic films.ALSO:Substrates, e.g. of metals and plastics, may be coated with solutions in hexafluorobenzene of copolymers of chlerotrifluoroethylene and vinylidene fluoride, optionally together with tetrafluoroethylene. In Example (XI) a polyethylene substrate and a sand-blasted steel panel are coated with hexafluorobenzene solutions of chlorotrifluoroethylene/vinylidene fluoride copolymers.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel phosphate esters of the formula
WHEREIN A. R1-R4 are independently fluorine, chlorine or alkyl or haloalkyl groups of one to 10 carbon atoms; B. A is a radical of the formula -(CFR5-CR6R7)- in which R5 and R6 are independently fluorine or hydrogen, and R7 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or perfluoroalkyl; C. X1-X4 are independently hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, provided that X1-X4 do not include more than two chlorine atoms or one bromine atom; D. Z is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, hydroxy, amino, substituted amino and OY wherein Y is a hydrocarbyl or hydroxy-substituted hydrocarbyl, or a water solubilizing cationic ion. E. M IS AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 10, N IS AN INTEGER FROM 0 TO 10 AND W IS AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 3. Said phosphate esters are useful for imparting oil and stain repellent properties to various materials, especially to paper.
