    摘要: A method of forming a polymer film includes dispensing a substrate and coating the substrate with a composition that is curable using actinic radiation. In an example, the method further includes exposing the composition to actinic radiation in presence of an atmosphere including 1 vol % to 37 vol % oxygen, whereby the surface of the composition forms an undulating morphology. In another example, the method further includes applying an oxygen-containing overlay over the composition, exposing the composition to actinic radiation through the oxygen-containing overlay, and removing the oxygen-containing overlay, whereby the surface of the composition forms an undulating morphology.

The film can be a single film layer or multiple film layers, wherein a film layer most proximal to the abrasive grain has a predominately hydrophilic silane component, and a film layer more distal to the abrasive grain includes predominately a relatively hydrophobic silane component. Coated abrasive products and bonded abrasive products include the surface-modified abrasive grains.

    摘要: A composition capable of coating a substrate and curing to provide a hydrophobic film inhibiting corrosion, the composition comprising: (a) a bis-silane comprising between about 0.5 weight percent to about 50 weight percent of the composition; and (b) a water soluble or dispersible polymer comprising between 10 weight percent to about 80 weight percent of the composition. A further exemplary superprimer in accordance with the instant invention includes a composition capable of coating a substrate and curing to provide a hydrophobic film inhibiting corrosion, the composition comprising: (a) a mixture of silanes; (b) a dispersible or soluble resin; and (c) an aqueous or non-aqueous solvent. Moreover, the invention includes the aforementioned superprimer composition, wherein the mixture of silanes includes at least one of a bis-sulfur silane, a bis-benzene silane, a bis-alkane silane, a bis-alkene silane, and a bis-amino silane.

    摘要: A coated abrasive article includes a backing having a surface, a plurality of abrasive regions overlying the surface in each of the first and second portions, and at least one macro-channel. The surface of the backing has a shape defined by an outer contour. A bisecting axis divides the shape into first and second portions. Each abrasive region includes a binder and a plurality of abrasive grains in contact with the binder. The abrasive grains have an average grain size of not greater than about 200 microns. The at least one macro-channel defines a passageway extending between a pair of adjacent abrasive regions and terminating at openings at the outer contour within each of the first and second portions. The macro-channel has an average channel width of between about 0.1 millimeters to about 5 millimeters and is substantially free of the binder and the abrasive grains.
