Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for monitoring wear status of a dental appliance may include a sensing module that sensing the temperature and one or more additional modalities (e.g., capacitance, impedance, pressure force) around a dental appliance to track when the user is wearing or not wearing the dental appliance. These sensing modules may also determine compliance more accurately with a dental treatment plan.

Abstract: Pressure sensor modules adapted for use with a dental appliance may include one or more pressure sensors encapsulated within a sealed cavity in which one or more walls of the sealed cavity are deformable so as to transduce pressure from outside of the cavity, due to deformation or movement of the dental appliance and/or the environment around the dental appliance, including the environment within a patient's mouth when wearing the dental appliance. Also described herein are method of making and using these apparatuses to identify and/or monitor the dental appliance, a patient condition and/or an orthodontic treatment. Also described herein are methods and apparatuses for identifying and/or characterizing sleep apnea using these pressure sensor modules.

Also described herein are methods of extended monitoring of a subject intraoral temperature for a variety of different clinical and non-clinical applications.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for electronic devices associated with monitoring a patient's use of an intraoral dental appliance. The monitoring electronics may communicate with near-field communication (NFC) signals. An NFC booster is disclosed to improve NFC data transfer between the electronic devices that monitor patient usage and communication devices. NFC boosters may be included within dental appliance cases and/or mobile phone cases. Also described are method and apparatuses for mounting the monitoring electronics onto the dental appliance. Also described are compact sensors, e.g., capacitive sensors, that may be included as part of a monitoring electronics unit.
