摘要: A vaginal dilation device is provided that may include any of a number of features. One feature of the vaginal dilation device is that it is configured to dilate vaginal tissue during labor to prevent tissue damage. Another feature of the vaginal dilation device is that it can be manually controlled to dilate vaginal tissue, or can be automatically controlled to dilate vaginal tissue. In some embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to measure a force applied by the device to tissue. In other embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to apply a constant force to tissue. In other embodiments, the vaginal dilation device is configured to expand at a constant rate. Methods associated with use of the vaginal dilation device are also provided.

摘要: Isotropic generalized diffusion tensor imaging methods and apparatus are configured to obtain signal attenuations using selected sets of applied magnetic field gradient directions whose averages produce mean apparent diffusion constants (mADCs) over a wide range of b-values, associated with higher order diffusion tensors (HOT). These sets are selected based on analytical descriptions of isotropic HOTs and the associated averaged signal attenuations are combined to produce mADCs, or probability density functions of intravoxel mADC distributions. Estimates of biologically-specific rotation-invariant parameters for quantifying tissue water mobilities or other tissue characteristics can be obtained such as Traces of HOTs associated with diffusion and mean t-kurtosis.

摘要: A method for determining a fertility period for a female human individual (FU), carried out in a device comprising a controller, a non-invasive heart sensor placed in contact or opposite to a portion of the skin of the individual, during the sleep of the individual, the heart sensor being configured to sense heart pulses of the individual and the controller being configured to determine the heart rate, the method comprising the following steps: /a/ collecting, at the sensor, heart pulses signals of the individual; /b/ extracting therefrom, at the controller, current heart rate during a night; /c/ calculating a minimal sleep heart rate denoted MSHR(i), over the night; /d/ comparing MSHR(i) with values of MSHR(k) recorded previously, and/or comparing MSHR(i) with a long term average of the minimal sleep heart rate values denoted LTHR; /e/ deducing therefrom a current ovulation probability index, according to a predefined criteria; /f/ if the ovulation probability index is higher than a predefined threshold denoted PTH, notify the individual with a fertility time window.

摘要: Methods and a system are provided for assessing postpartum hemorrhage risk and postpartum hemorrhage stages in a clinical setting. Generally, a clinician may indicate that the mass of several bloody items, indicated in type and quantity, is to be measured using a scale. The mass of bloody items is compared to the known unused dry mass of such items in order to accurately determine the quantitative blood loss (QBL) of a patient at the bedside. The cumulative QBL can be updated by weighing additional items. Based on the cumulative QBL, the patient's vital signs, and other factors, a corresponding hemorrhage stage is identified and communicated to the clinician. Recommendations specific to the hemorrhage stage are provided to a clinician. Some recommendations are selectable actions that trigger automatic placement of medical orders and notifications to relevant medical services, such as a blood bank or anesthesia.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for measuring the body fat percent and fat accretion during pregnancy, which preferably utilizes a Fourier transform near infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR) fat determination method. The FT-NIR results can be used to measure and monitor body fat percent, and used to measure the mother's fat accretion rate. A method to monitor weight gain in a pregnant subject is provided wherein the body fat percentage of the subject is maintained at a constant level during gestation, and the subject's fat accretion rate is monitored so as to follow the fat accretion rate provided by using pre-defined fat accretion determination formulae. By measurement of the body fat percent and fat accretion rates, the weight gain of a subject can be monitored and/or controlled during pregnancy.
