    Abstract: A transmission light source unit includes a first light source portion including: a first light source; and a first light guide that shapes light emitted by the first light source into a line and emits the light toward a conveyance path of a paper sheet. An image sensor unit includes: a second light source portion that emits light toward the conveyance path of the paper sheet; and an image sensor that detects the light emitted by the first light source portion and transmitted through the paper sheet and the light emitted by the second light source portion and reflected by the paper sheet. A first light diffusing surface of the first light guide is provided with at least one of concave portions and convex portions including inclined surfaces and inclined relative to a normal line of the first light emission surface.

    Abstract: An image sensor unit includes: a plurality of light sources each including an LED chip; a plurality of light guides that are arranged in parallel to face incident surfaces on one side in a longitudinal direction for each of the plurality of light sources and that guide light from the plurality of light sources to a bill; an image sensor that converts light from the bill to an electric signal; a sensor substrate for mounting the image sensor; and a circuit board that is provided with the plurality of light sources on a same mounting surface and that is arranged on the sensor substrate on one side in the longitudinal direction of the plurality of light guides, wherein the sensor substrate includes a connection hole on one side in the longitudinal direction of the sensor substrate, and the circuit board is connected to the sensor substrate by connecting a connecting portion including a plurality of external connection pads to the connection hole.

    Abstract: An image sensor unit includes: multiple first light guides that shape light emitted by light sources into a line and emit linear light elongated in longitudinal direction to an object to be read (P); multiple holding members that hold each of the first light guides on a frame; and an image sensor that detects light from the object to be read (P). The multiple first light guides are parallel, and in a range in which the image sensor detects the light from the object to be read (P) in the longitudinal direction of the first light guides, center positions in the main-scan direction of the multiple holding members that hold one first light guide of the multiple light guides and center positions in the main-scan direction of the multiple holding members that hold another light guide different from the one first light guide deviate from each other.

    Abstract: An illumination apparatus includes a light source and an elongated light guide, wherein the light guide includes an emission surface that emits light from the light source and a reflection surface that reflects the light to the emission surface, the reflection surface includes a plurality of diffusion portions that diffuse the light, the diffusion portions have a shape of part of a sphere recessed from the reflection surface, a depth of the diffusion portions from the reflection surface is equal to or greater than 16.5% and equal to or smaller than 50% of a diameter of the sphere, and a width of the diffusion portions is equal to or greater than 0.1 mm and equal to or smaller than 50% of a width of the reflection surface.

    Abstract: Provided is an illumination apparatus that applies light to an original, the illumination apparatus including: a light source; and a rod-shaped light guide including: an incident surface that receives the light from the light source; a reflection surface provided with a diffusion portion that diffuses the light incident on the incident surface; and an emission surface that emits, to the original, the light diffused by the diffusion portion. An area of the light guide is reduced by an inclination of the light guide from the incident surface side to a middle part in a longitudinal direction of the light guide, and the light guide is provided with the diffusion portion from the incident surface side to the middle part on the reflection surface.

    Abstract: An illumination apparatus includes: a light source; a rod-like light guide having an incident surface that enters light from the light source that is disposed on one side in a main-scan direction, a diffusing surface that diffuses light that enters from the incident surface, and an emission surface that linearly emits light towards a bill; and a reflection member having a reflection surface that reflects light diffused by the diffusing surface to the light guide. The light guide has a locking projection that is locked in the reflection member on one side in the main-scan direction. The reflection member has a locking hole in which the locking projection is locked. A cut-out portion at which one part is cut out is formed in the locking hole.
