    摘要: Embodiments of a high-efficiency Wi-Fi (HEW) station, access point (AP), and method for communication in a wireless network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the HEW station may perform random access contention with other HEW stations for uplink resources for data transmission to the HEW AP. The HEW station may determine transmission activity during a first portion of a channel sensing period, and may select a sub-channel on which transmission activity is not determined. The HEW station may transmit an announcement signal on the selected sub-channel during a second portion of the channel sensing period. The announcement signal transmission may indicate, to other contending HEW stations, an intention by the HEW station to transmit on the same selected sub-channel during a subsequent access period.

The channel resources may include multiple channels, each of which may include multiple sub-channels and an extra portion of channel resources. The resource allocation message may include multiple sub-channel allocation blocks to indicate an allocation for a particular HEW station. A length of the sub-channel allocation blocks may be based on various factors, such as a number of channels included in the channel resources and a sub-carrier bandwidth.

In some embodiments, the HEW station may receive a beacon frame that indicates a number of trigger frames (TFs) included in a beacon interval. The beacon frame may be received from an HEW access point (AP) in channel resources that include multiple sub-channels. The HEW station may receive a random access TF that indicates a random access portion of the sub-channels that are allocated for random access contention during an uplink transmission period. The HEW station may select a candidate sub-channel from the channel resources. When the candidate sub-channel is included in the random access portion, the HEW station may transmit an association request (AR) frame on the candidate sub-channel during the uplink transmission period.

    摘要: Systems and techniques for random access to a wireless network are described herein. Components of a wireless station may obtain a back-off value. The components may also decode random access resource units from a frame transmitted to the wireless station from an access point of the wireless network. The components may decrement the back-off for each decoded random access frame. The wireless station may select this frame from a sequence of frames when the back-off reaches zero while decoding the random access resource units of this frame. The wireless station then selects the random access resource unit with a more favorable transmission metric than another random access resource unit of the frame and uses the selected random access resource unit to communicate with the access point.

An apparatus is disclosed including processing circuitry configured to: decode a trigger frame, the trigger frame to indicate resource units (RUs) for random access and to indicate if a carrier sense (CS) is to be performed. The processing circuitry may be further configured to: decrement a value of an orthogonal frequency division multiple-access (OFDMA) backoff (OBO) field based on a number of the RUs indicated for random access. The processing circuitry may be further configured to: when the value of the OBO field reaches a predetermined value, randomly select one of the RUs indicated for random access, and if the CS is to be performed, determine a virtual CS based on one or more network allocation vectors (NAVs) and perform a physical CS on the selected RU, and if the virtual CS and the physical CS both indicate that the selected RU is idle, configure the wireless device to transmit a physical (PHY) layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data units (PPDU) on the selected RU in accordance with OFDMA.
