Abstract: A flowmeter is inserted into a main passage through which a target fluid flows. The flowmeter includes a housing, a sub passage, an inlet portion, an outlet portion, a flow rate detector, and a protrusion. The housing includes a side surface and a tip end surface. A part of the target fluid flows into the sub passage from the main passage. The target fluid flows into the sub passage through the inlet portion and flows out of the sub passage through the outlet portion. The flow rate detector is configured to detect a flow rate of the target fluid flowing through the sub passage. The tip end surface includes a first end area and a second end area. The protrusion protrudes from the tip end surface and is located in both the first end area and the second end area.

Abstract: A control system for an internal combustion engine has an intake valve, an exhaust valve, and an exhaust purifying catalyst that purifies exhaust gas after combustion of a fuel. During a fuel cut in which no fuel is supplied, a closing timing of the intake valve is controlled to a delayed angle side more than at a timing when the fuel is supplied and to a delayed angle side more than at a timing at a bottom dead center of an intake stroke, and an opening timing of the exhaust valve is controlled to an advanced angle side more than at the timing when the fuel is supplied and to an advanced angle side more than at the timing at the bottom dead center of an expansion stroke.

Abstract: A flowmeter is disposed in a passage through which a fluid flows. The flowmeter includes a first passage and a second passage. The first passage defines an opening through which a part of the fluid flows into the flowmeter from the passage. The second passage branches off from the first passage and includes a flow rate detector configured to detect a flow rate of the fluid flowing through the second passage from the first passage. The second passage has one end at which the second passage branches off from the first passage and the other end. The second passage includes at least one end opening at the other end and an inflow reducer configured to restrict the fluid from flowing into the second passage through the at least one end opening.

Abstract: An ignition apparatus for internal combustion engines is provided. The ignition apparatus is equipped with an ECU. The ECU monitors a path length of a discharge of a spark for a period of time in which a second circuit delivers or inputs energy in the form of a threshold value determination. When the path length has become too short, the ECU determines that ignition is expected to be delayed and then selects a special mode to control the delay of the ignition. The ECU increase a target value of an energy input amount. This enables the delay of ignition resulting from a short extension of the path length to be minimized. The ignition apparatus equipped with the second circuit to continue the discharge of sparks is, thus, capable of reducing a variation in ignition without the need for uniformly increasing the energy input amount.
