摘要: There is disclosed a cable having a covering layer on the outside of a multicore stranded wire composed of plural insulated conductors that are intertwined, wherein at least an outermost layer of the covering layer is made of a crosslinked product of a resin composition containing (a) 10 to 60% by weight of a polyamide elastomer made up of a block copolymer whose hard segment is a polyamide, (b) 5 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin, (c) 10 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, and (d) 0 to 20% by weight of a thermoplastic styrene elastomer. The airtightness and the watertightness at the interface between the cable and a molded body are kept for extended periods without taking any particular sealing measures. The corrosion of the conductors in the cable and the deterioration of the performance of the connected parts of machinery and tools can be prevented, and the cable has excellent water resistance.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical fiber cable which can reliably prevent increased transmission loss due to damage of the optical fiber as a result of the egg-laying behavior of cicadas. The cable includes at least an optical fiber 1, tension members 6 and a sheath 3. The sheath 3 has a shore D hardness of 55 or more and a minimum distance L from a surface of the optical fiber 1 to an outer surface of the sheath 3 of greater than 0.3 mm. Further, in the cable, the surface of sheath 3 has a coefficient of friction of 0.45 or less and the sheath 3 has a shore D hardness of 57 or more. In addition, the cable is made by using a specific flame retardant composition (P) as the sheath material.

摘要: There is provided an aromatic polycarbonate obtained by reacting a carbonate precursor substance with a dihydric phenol comprising mainly 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenol)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane having specific characteristics. This aromatic polycarbonate has the following characteristics. That is, with respect to 5 wt % solution of the aromatic polycarbonate in methylene chloride, after being filtered through a filter having a pore diameter of 0.1 .mu.m, the light transmittance at 400 nm measured by using a quartz cell having an optical path length of 250 mm, is 85% or more in terms of light transmittance per cm of the polymer; and when 0.7 g of the aromatic polycarbonate is dissolved in 100 ml of methylene chloride, the specific viscosity of the thus obtained solution measured at 20.degree. C., is in the range of 0.160 to 0.418. The aromatic polycarbonate is excellent in heat resistance and transparency and good in moldability, and is suitable for a plastic optical waveguide that is small in transmission loss and excellent in heat resistance.
