    摘要: An error engine associated with an optical disc drive plays an audible voice error message if an optical medium inserted in the optical drive based system is incompatible with the optical drive based system. For instance, if an optical medium with video navigation is input into an optical drive based system that supports only audio navigation, a voice message states, “this video disc is not playable in an audio system.” Plural types of voice messages may be selected to address plural types of incompatibilities. The voice messages are stored on the optical medium, in the optical drive based system or at a network location accessible by the optical drive based system.

For instance, the first stream has instrumentation and the second stream has vocals so that the audio output from the streams may include normal play mixing both streams to have instrumentation and vocals, instrumentation-only play having only one stream presented, or instrumentation with guide vocals having the stream associated with vocals processed at a subdued volume or varied speaker location. Alternatively, the first stream has instrumentation with vocals and the second stream has inverse vocals so that mixing the streams provides subdued or no vocals. The text stream presents lyrics in a text box of a graphics plane of a display, the lyrics synchronized to the instrumentation and vocals.

    摘要: An information handling system includes an optical disc drive. The optical disc drive is connected to an auxiliary power source so that a drive tray of the optical disc drive can be opened or closed, or a disc inserted or ejected from the optical disc drive when the information handling system is in a low-power mode. In response to these actions in the low-power mode, information is stored to record that the drive tray has been opened or closed. Accordingly, when the information handling system returns to a normal mode, it can take appropriate action, such as dismounting a logical volume associated with a disc that was previously in the drive. Because the optical disc drive can be physically accessed in the low-power mode, the information handling system does not have to enter the normal power mode in order for discs to be retrieved or inserted.

    摘要: An information handling system optical drive improves information write speeds by using multiple lasers in conjunction with each other to perform a write to an optical medium data or label surface. One or more lasers illuminate the optical medium at a preheat spot with a preheat power and one laser selectively illuminates the optical medium proximate the preheat spot to alter the reflective material of the optical medium and write information. For instance, an infrared associated with CD optical media and/or a red laser associated with a DVD optical media illuminate the optical medium with a loose focus to preheat the optical medium while a blue laser associated with high definition DVD optical media illuminates the optical medium to write information at the preheated area. Preheating allows the blue laser to alter the reflective material of the optical medium in a write operation performed at a more rapid spin rate than occurs without preheating.

An operating system may be waked to a restored state.
