Abstract: An in-mold coating includes graphene and a base material including an unsaturated polyester and/or a vinyl ester monomer. A part includes a main body formed of a polymeric sheet molding compound and an in-mold coating disposed on the main body, where the in-mold coating includes graphene and a base material that comprises an unsaturated polyester and/or a vinyl ester monomer. A method of creating an in-mold coating includes providing a base material comprising at least one of an unsaturated polyester and a vinyl ester monomer, and the method further includes adding graphene to the base material.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for forming and implementing a graphene-copper composite powder are disclosed. The graphene-copper composite powder may be formed by providing an inert environment, introducing a first mist to the inert environment, introducing a second mist to the inert environment, and mixing the first mist and the second mist within the inert environment to thereby produce a graphene-copper composite powder. The first mist being atomized copper with a negative charge, and the second mist including graphene flakes with a positive charge. The graphene-copper composite powder may be used to form components via additive manufacturing or traditional powder metallurgy processes.

Abstract: A design for repair casting having a repairable ultra-large single-piece casting and a replacement part. The ultra-large single-piece casting includes a main body portion, at least one predefined replaceable portion integrally cast with the main body portion, and a cut-guide delineating the predefined replaceable portion from the main body portion. The cut-guide includes a continuous channel defined on an exterior surface of the single-piece casting. The cut-guide further includes a rib extending from a channel wall on the main body portion. A damaged replaceable portion is excisable from the main-body portion by cutting through the single-piece casting along the cut-guide. The excised damaged replaceable portion may be replaced with the replacement part, which has substantially the same geometry, dimensions, and mechanical properties as an undamaged replaceable portion. The replacement part may be joined to the main body portion by mechanical means or by welding.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for producing one or more powders each formed of two or more materials. Abstract: A method of repairing an ultra-large single-piece cast component of a vehicle body. The method includes the steps of locating a damaged portion of the cast component, determining an extent of the damaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, defining a cut-line sectioning off the damaged portion from an undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, cutting along the cut-line to excise the damaged portion from the undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component, and joining a replacement piece to the undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component. The replacement piece is fabricated based on the original manufacturer's geometry and dimensional data of the excised damaged portion. The undamaged portion of the ultra-large cast component remains on the vehicle body during the repair.
