Abstract: An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) may include a memory and one or more processors operatively coupled to the memory. The processors may process a scheduling trigger to provide channel state information (CSI) and beam information using extra-large physical uplink shared channel (xPUSCH). The processing device may also generate a reporting message comprising CSI and beam information. The processing device may then encode xPUSCH data to include the reporting message.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, and methods using or implementing a control channel (PDCCH) design. The PDCCH can occupy an initial number of OFDM symbols of a downlink subframe, while occupying less than the full system bandwidth. The PDCCH can be time division multiplexed (TDM) with a shared channel (PDSCH) or frequency division multiplexed (FDM) with a PDSCH. The PDCCH can further be multiplexed with another PDCCH in a contiguous or non-contiguous region. Resources allocated to the PDCCH can overlap or partially overlap resources allocated to the PDSCH. An Evolved Node-B (eNB) can provide configuration information for the PDCCH design in Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling to a user equipment (UE), or through use of a Master Information Block (MIB) or System Information Block (SIB).

Abstract: Codebook designs are disclosed for full-dimensional multiple-input-multiple output (FD-MIMO) wireless cellular systems. The FD-MIMO cookbooks employ channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS). The codebook designs are used in beamforming CSI-RSs by the enhanced nodeB (eNB), where the CSI-RS is sent to the user equipment (UE), enabling the UE to perform channel estimation. The codebooks support beam selection, co-phasing between polarizations, and beam combining.

Abstract: Technologies described herein provide mechanisms and formats to accomplish the beam switching. In one implementation, least one frame structure for both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) beam switching is provided. The UL beam switching and refinement may rely on 5G Physical Random Access Channel (xPRACH) or 5G Sounding Reference Signal (xSRS). The DL beam switching and refinement may be done based on a beam refinement reference signal (BRRS). In some embodiments, to accomplish the both UL and DL beam switching and refinement in one subframe, the BRRS and xPRACH or xSRS may be located in one subframe.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) comprises circuitry to configure a scheduling request (SR) transmission based on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and combine the scheduling request with a buffer status report (BSR). The UE transmits the combined SR and BSR in a single subframe to a network entity, receives uplink resource scheduling from the network entity in reply to the combined SR and BSR, and transmits uplink data to the network entity according to the uplink resource scheduling.
