Abstract: Optical flow refers to the pattern of apparent motion of objects, surfaces, and edges in a visual scene caused by the relative motion between an observer and a scene. Optical flow algorithms can be used to detect and delineate independently moving objects, even in the presence of camera motion. The present invention uses optical-flow algorithms to detect and remove marine snow particles from live video. Portions of an image scene which are identified as marine snow are reconstructed in a manner intended to reveal underwater scenery which had been occluded by the marine snow. Pixel locations within the regions of marine snow are replaced with new pixel values that are determined based on either historical data for each pixel or a mathematical operation, such as one which uses data from neighboring pixels.

Abstract: Medical software tools platforms utilize a surgical display to provide access to specific medical software tools, such as medically-oriented applications or widgets, that can assist surgeons or surgical team in performing various procedures. In particular, an endoscopic camera may register the momentary rise in the optical signature reflected from a tissue surface and in turn transmit it to a medical image processing system which can also receive patient heart rate data and display relevant anomalies. Changes in various spectral components and the speed at which they change in relation to a source of stimulus (heartbeat, breathing, light source modulation, etc.) may indicate the arrival of blood, contrast agents or oxygen absorption. Combinations of these may indicate various states of differing disease or margins of tumors, and so forth. Also, changes in temperatures, physical dimensions, pressures, photoacoustic pressures and the rate of change may indicate tissue anomalies in comparison to historic values.

Abstract: Medical software tools platform utilizes a surgical display to provide access to specific medical software tools, such as medically-oriented applications or widgets, that can assist those in the operating room, such as a surgeon or surgical team, with a surgery. For various embodiments, the medical software tools platform and its associated medical software tools are presented on a surgical display (e.g., being utilized in an operating room) over an image stream provided by a surgical camera (e.g., in use in the operating room or with other endoscopic procedures). Various medical software tools can provide features and functions that can facilitate integration of equipment in an operating room or add medical context awareness to anatomic structures presented in the image stream from the surgical camera and provide archived information pertaining to the same.

Abstract: The present invention is a foundational video architecture and a framework for collecting surgical video at an enterprise scale. It enables hospitals to ingest, manage, and fully utilize patient surgical video within the hospital and to share video with designated users outside of the hospital. It is a passive solution that automatically records video during surgery and provides key clips post-surgery. It stores video to the cloud and integrates videos to the patient's Electronic Health Record (EHR). The present invention pertains to the need to precisely identify and communicate a specific position on tissue or an organ with a Virtual Pointing Device (VPD) software tool. The VPD uses a combination of audio key words and the surgeon's hand movements to invoke various functionality.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate to systems and methods for simultaneously switching input image streams to output devices, while providing optional image processing functions on the image streams. Certain embodiments may enable multiple users/viewers to collaboratively control such systems and methods. Additionally, some embodiments may enable control by a set of computer input devices (e.g., keyboard and mouse) to switch between multiple computer systems, possibly by following the movement of a computer input device cursor, between virtual displays, as the cursor is controlled by the set of computer input devices.

Abstract: Medical software tools platform utilizes a surgical display to provide access to specific medical software tools, such as medically-oriented applications or tools, that can assist those in the operating room, such as a surgeon or surgical team, with a surgery. In particular, an optical sensor located within an endoscopic camera may register subtle differences in color characteristics reflected from a tissue surface and in turn transmit the information to a medical image processing system. Moreover, the new tools are intended to help surgeons better determine the boundaries between healthy and diseased regions during surgical procedures. Various tools are intended to be used in procedures where indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescent dye is used. Intraoperative fluorescence imaging is commonly used during minimally invasive procedures to enable surgeons to visualize tissue perfusion and anatomical structures. The term perfusion refers to the passage of blood and tissue fluid through the capillary bed. Intraoperative fluorescence imaging can also be used to improve visualization of vessels and structures, which, in turn, may reduce the risk of complications during minimally invasive surgeries.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to an Active Battery System (ABS). The ABS eliminates the need for replacing the coin-cell CMOS battery when its service life has ended. The ABS enables a standard half-double-A battery to act as the CMOS battery and is replaceable via the front panel. Additionally, the ABS monitors the voltage of the battery and warns the user via an LED when to be replaced. The Active Battery System reduces unexpected server failures and maintenance time. The present invention comprises of a battery designed to be populated upon a circuit board is removed an exterior access point to the enclosure which contains the circuit board. The invention permits access to the battery to change it by relocating it to the front or exterior of a unit or to some accessible perimeter of a unit, with more convenience to avoid arduous disassembly.
