Abstract: A method for evacuating particulates from a surgical site is disclosed. The method comprises communicatively connecting a particulate evacuation module and a surgical hub, wherein the surgical hub comprises a surgical hub enclosure, and wherein the particulate evacuation module is configured to be received within the surgical hub enclosure. The method further comprises removing a particulate from the surgical site and into the particulate evacuation module, analyzing the removed particulate, and modifying an operation of the particulate evacuation module based on the analysis of the removed particulate.

Abstract: A non-invasive device for detecting Alzheimer's Disease-associated pathologies, comprising a fundus camera comprising a spectral reflectance imaging unit that includes a broadband light source and a light sensor and a lens assembly to focus light from the broadband light source onto a fundus of an eye, and one or more processors to detect reflected and/or backscattered light from the eye, illuminated by the broadband light source, using the light sensor for determining spectral reflectance information, generate a plurality of spectral reflectance maps comprising counts of reflected and/or backscattered light at a different wavelength or a different range of wavelengths, assign a weight to each of the spectral reflectance maps, and determine one or more regions of interest from the weighted spectral reflectance maps as being a potential Alzheimer's Disease-associated pathology based on a detection of one or more biomarkers indicative of Tauopathy.

Abstract: A method for the spatially-resolved probing of bio logical tissue (102) comprises the steps of emitting, by means of at least one light source (106), a series of light pulses into the tissue and of measuring, by means of a plurality of light detectors (108), a plurality of time-resolved responses to the light pulses scattered from the tissue. The measurement is carried out with a temporal resolution better than 20 ps. A plurality of first responses is in response to light pulses at a first illumination band and is measured at a plurality of first detection bands. The first detection bands differ from each other and from the first illumination band in order to detect inelastic scattering. A plurality of second responses is in response to light pulses at a second illumination band and is measured at a second detection band. The second detection band overlaps with the second illumination band in order to detect elastic scatting. Time of flight analysis of both responses allows to e.g. use elastic scattering for locating structures (S1, S2, S3) in the tissue (102) and for assigning them to the inelastic scattering data.

Abstract: In one aspect, a hyperspectral image measurement device is provided to include: a main body; an illumination module disposed in the main body and including LEDs having different peak wavelengths to irradiate light to a subject; a camera disposed on the main body and receiving light reflected from the subject to acquire an image of the subject; a barrel having a contact surface contacting the subject, the contact surface located to be spaced apart from the illumination module and the camera module by a predetermined distance; and a reference cover located on the contact surface and including a standard reflection layer for reflecting light irradiated from the illumination module toward the camera module.

Abstract: A system for analyzing a reflected signal during a laser procedure can include a surgical scope. A first light source emitter can be configurable to emit a first signal having a first (e.g., a non-visible) spectrum. A second light source emitter can be configurable to emit a second signal having a second spectrum (e.g., a visible or infrared (IR) spectrum). Each of the first or the second light source emitters can be coupled to or included within the surgical scope. The system can include an optical sensor configurable to detect and analyze a third signal returned from the surface of an object in response to the emitted second signal. The returned third signal can be analyzed to determine whether a reflected absolute or relative intensity or an absolute or relative spectral signature meets at least one criterion, thereby triggering at least one of: warning a user or adjusting the first signal.

Abstract: Medical software tools platforms utilize a surgical display to provide access to specific medical software tools, such as medically-oriented applications or widgets, that can assist surgeons or surgical team in performing various procedures. In particular, an endoscopic camera may register the momentary rise in the optical signature reflected from a tissue surface and in turn transmit it to a medical image processing system which can also receive patient heart rate data and display relevant anomalies. Changes in various spectral components and the speed at which they change in relation to a source of stimulus (heartbeat, breathing, light source modulation, etc.) may indicate the arrival of blood, contrast agents or oxygen absorption. Combinations of these may indicate various states of differing disease or margins of tumors, and so forth. Also, changes in temperatures, physical dimensions, pressures, photoacoustic pressures and the rate of change may indicate tissue anomalies in comparison to historic values.
