Abstract:
Disclosed is a piston (1) for a combustion engine, comprising hub bores (3) that are provided with plain bearing surfaces (5) and are used for accommodating a piston pin. In order to very effectively and inexpensively prevent the piston pin and the hub bores from jamming and wearing off, a self-lubricating coating (6) made of a thermally cured resin which contains embedded solid lubricant particles is applied directly to at least one subarea (Tb) of the plain bearing surfaces by means of rotary atomization.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hard chrome layer, which is formed substantially by electrodeposition from an electrolyte containing a hexavalent chrome and which has fissures in which particles of hard material are intercalated. According to the invention, it is provided that the particles of hard material are formed from cubic boron nitride and have an average particle size of from 0.1 to 1.0 μm. The present invention also relates to a substrate with such a hard chrome layer and to a tribological system comprising a basic body and an opposing body in the form of such a substrate.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a piston ring whose running surface is provided with a coating containing a plastic material. Said piston ring is characterized in that the coating is composed of at least one polyamide-imide and/or at least one polyether ether ketone with embedded particles which can be embodied as hard material particles, solid lubricant particles, or metallic particles. The invention further relates to a piston/piston ring arrangement comprising at least one inventive piston ring and an agent for coating at least the running surface of the piston ring.
Abstract:
A gear cutting machine is provided with gearing providing additional inaccuracies to superimpose the additional inaccuracies over the normal or residual gear cutting inaccuracies of the machine. The resultant errors cut into the gears provide gears having desired noise characteristics. The additional inaccuracies are of a higher frequency than the residual errors so that noise above the audible frequency range is provided by the gears so cut. The gear cutting machine has gearing for driving the hobbing spindle and for indexing a rotary table through worm gearing. The spindle drive gear and the worm drive gear are provided with eccentric sockets for introducing the additional inaccuracies. The drive gears also are provided with deformable portions providing the drive gear teeth so that the drive gears may be deformed into polygons. The eccentric sockets and polygonal drive gears are retained in position on the shafts that they drive by a nut and intermediary element.
Abstract:
A planar device for absorbing substances, especially proteins, such as enzymes, from body fluids, especially from gingival crevicular fluid or lacrimal fluid, comprising a receptor element (10), a support element (20), characterized in that—said receptor element (10) is hydrophilic and has a pore size of from 0.22 μm to 5 μm, especially from 0.5 μm to 3 μm, and consists of a plastic material or mixture of plastic materials, especially of an inert plastic material or a mixture of inert plastic materials;—said support element (20) is hydrophobic and covers one surface of the receptor element (10) at least partially, and—wherein the device further comprises a discriminator element (40) which is situated at the opposing surface of the receptor element (10).

Disclosed is a connecting rod for a combustion engine, comprising a small connecting-rod eye that is provided with a plain bearing surface and is used for accommodating a piston pin, and a large connecting-rod eye which is provided with a plain bearing surface and embraces a crankshaft journal. In order to very effectively and inexpensively prevent the piston pin and the crankshaft journal of the connecting rod from jamming and wearing off, a self-lubricating coating made of a thermally cured resin which contains embedded solid lubricant particles is applied directly to at least one of the plain bearing surfaces by means of rotary atomization.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of wear-resistant edges for a keystone ring for internal combustion engines, by means of which the occurrence of ring edge damage during engine operation is essentially avoided, whereby a rectangular ring with inner and outer circumferential faces and an upper and lower edge is formed from a steel strip with a rectangular cross-section as starting material, comprising the following process steps: parallel grinding of the ring edges and grinding of the outer circumferential faces to give the required profile and brushing of the inner circumferential face, grinding the upper and lower ring edge (3a, 4a) to form the keystone ring, such that the piston ring retains parallel faces (3b, 4b) as stacking faces, complete nitriding of the piston ring surface by means of a gas-nitriding process (GNS) to form a nitride layer, profiling of the nitrided piston ring by grinding and lapping without machining the nitrided edges of the piston ring, stacking the piston rings on the parallel faces thereof with axial tensioning to give a bundle and coating of the outer circumferential faces of the piston rings with a wearing layer by means of a PVD method and grinding the nitrided layer of the faces in the stacked state such that at most a quarter of the total thickness of the nitrided layer is removed.
Abstract:
A process for avoiding false positive results in a detecting process of an inflammation indicator from the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family in a gingival crevicular fluid (GCF), wherein said GCF, which is obtained from a mouthrinse or saliva, is filtered before said inflammation indicator from the MMP family is assayed.
