Abstract: A companion device interoperating with a broadcast reception device for receiving a broadcast signal, can include a communication device configured to connect the companion device with the broadcast reception device, in which the broadcast signal includes emergency alert information and service information for a broadcast service, and the service information includes service identification information for identifying the broadcast service and name information of the broadcast service, and the emergency alert information and the service information are carried in Internet Protocol (IP) packets having a same IP address; and a controller configured to receive the emergency alert information from the broadcast reception device, the emergency alert information including identifier information for the emergency alert information, category information of the emergency alert information, and priority information for the emergency alert information, and the controller receiving information for components of the broadcast service.

Abstract: A digital receiver for synchronizing multiple components delivered on a broadband network and a broadcast network, the digital receiver including a broadband network interface configured to receive broadband data including at least one audio component for a service via the broadband network, wherein the at least one audio component relates to a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) segment, wherein the broadband network comprises an internet network; a broadcast network interface configured to receive a broadcast signal including a video component for the service, first timing information, and second timing information via the broadcast network, wherein the broadcast signal further includes a MPD (Media Presentation Description) having a DASH representation containing a segment URL for the DASH segment delivered over the broadband network; and a processor configured to calculate an offset based on a receiver wall clock, and process at least one of the at least one audio component or the video component which is time-aligned based on the calculated offset.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a broadcast signal in a digital transmitter includes generating a link layer packet; generating the broadcast signal based on the link layer packet; and transmitting the broadcast signal. Further, the link layer packet includes at least one header and a payload, in which the at least one header includes a packet type field, and the packet type field represents a type of input data before encapsulation into the link layer packet. In addition, in response to the packet type field represents that the input data relates to a Movie Picture Experts Group-2 (MPEG-2) Transport Stream (TS) packet, a first header included in the link layer packet includes a deleted null packet indicator for representing the number of deleted null TS packets prior to the link layer packet.

Abstract: A method for receiving a broadcast signal includes receiving the broadcast signal; frequency deinterleaving data in the broadcast signal based on an address generator the address generator including a sequence generator generating a sequence, a symbol offset generator generating a symbol offset, after applying the symbol offset to the sequence, the sequence to which the symbol offset is applied is checked whether an address of the sequence is within a range for the frequency deinterleaving, the address within the range is used for the frequency deinterleaving; decoding the frequency deinterleaved data of a signal frame in the broadcast signal, the decoded signal frame including one or more components included in a content and content information describing the content, the content information including component information including role information for at least one of an audio component, a video component, a closed caption component or an application component of the one or more components; and displaying information related to the content based on the role information of the one or more components of the content in the decoded broadcast signal.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a broadcast signal including one or more signal frames; parsing the one or more signal frames including one or more service components in DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) format, description information providing mapping between a service component and a DASH representation found in an MPD (Media Presentation Description), and a signaling table, the signaling table including a service identifier identifying the service and bootstrapping information to obtain the MPD and the description information, the description information including a transport session id representing a transport session carrying one or more service components, a DASH representation id representing a DASH representation corresponding to the one or more service components carried in the transport session and an IP address and port information of one or more IP packets that carry the transport session; and parsing the signaling table to obtain the description information and the MPD.
